We ended up staying here at the last minute due to Hurricane Wilma. We were scheduled to arrive in Orlando on Monday Oct. 24 for a cruise. Due to Wilma, we changed our flight to Sun. Oct. 23 and our TA booked us at Hampton. We took a private shuttle from Orlando to the hotel.
The afternoon was beautiful and we walked on the beach and swam in the pool. We found out that our cruise would be delayed until Tuesday Oct. 25. We were able to book a second night before we left home. It was sold out upon arrival.
On Monday, Wilma hit. We had a 7th floor room with a view of the beach. The waves were awesome. The power went out for about 4 hours in the afternoon. Luckily the lobby had board games that we were able to play. Everyone kinda just hung out. The restaurant was open next door but was only able to serve cold food (salads and sandwiches).
We were able to keep in touch with family and friends via the free internet connection in the lobby. Needless to say, they were all worried about us.
The breakfast was good. It appears that most of the rooms have balconies. There is a full service restaurant in the Marriott next door. Ron Jon's Surf Shop is a short walk away. The beach access was great! The pool isn't anything fancy but our kids were happy.
Art's shuttle provides transportation to Port Canaveral for 4.00 pp. Sign up at the lobby. The shuttle arrives about noon each day.
BTW, this was one of those times that it paid to have a flashlight. Always make sure you travel with one. Due to the power outage, we had to take the stairs up and down to the 7th floor. Without the flashlight it would of been very dangerous. The lighting was minimal in the stairwell.
We would stay here again.
Stayed here pre-cruise; a good choice I must say. Nice rooms, great pool. Good brkfst included. NOT oceanfront--hotel or condo building in the way. Would recommend and would stay there again pre- or post-cruise.
Small resort area--but some good restaurants nearby.
Me and my wife spent 5 beautiful days at the Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach from october 17th to 22nd (just before Wilma arrived). Temperature was in the 80s all the time (water 70s) and we had blue skies for 3 days. Staff was excellent and we had one of these awesome sea-view rooms at the 8th floor. Each room has a small private balcony and everything is very clean. We enjoyed the outdoor pool and the short walking distance to the beach (about 200 yards). Breakfast buffet included a lot of warm and cold stuff and you could pick up your hot coffee 24hrs a day. They also have two computers with internet account in the lobby. I definitely would recommend the Hampton Inn to all people travelling to KSC (20 minutes) and Orlando Fun parks (1 hr.), its`s really fantastic having beach life after coming home...
I stayed here 2 nights in Oct.I paid for an ocean view, but you had to be on the balcony and look all the way left to actually see the ocean.Besides that,I enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were clean, breakfast was good, and the beach is very easy to get to.I would probably stay here again if I'm in the area.
