We stayed in the D building in an oceanfront one bedroom for one week. The suite was the usual Florida beach decor (think the living room on Golden Girls) and a little outdated, but everything was clean and in good condition. The living room balcony in our second floor condo provided a gorgeous panoramic view of the ocean and a beautiful sunrise every morning. The king size bed in the bedroom was firm, but not overly so. We loved having two full bathrooms, even with just two of us- all the better to shower off the sand quickly and get to dinner.
We did not visit the restaurant, but did go to the Thursday night comedy show- definitely not a "family" event, but if you have a bawdy sense of humor like we do, you'll enjoy it and the table service cocktails.
The beach was very clean and not at all crowded, we were easily 50 yards from anyone else on the sand with no problem. The resort offers chair and equipment rentals, but when we stayed there, we never saw anyone at the rental counter. Services were available from the activity center on site however. The activities schedule was very full, but not all activities are well attended. A friend went to the nature show and really liked it.
The pool by the picnic area was frequently somewhat crowded, but very clean and the perfect temperature. We used our condo's kitchen nightly and enjoyed cooking out on the excellent gas grills in the picnic area. They also offer a "shared kitchen" in the area with an oven and stove for those who want to picnic outside. We brought our grilled items inside and ate in the condo instead, but the picnic area was very clean and well maintained.
The front desk staff could have been a little friendlier, especially the one gentleman who checked us in, but we didn't find it so bad as to make a dent in a lovely vacation.
I would recommend a rental car for those flying in, as it made grocery shopping and visiting local shops, bars, and restaurants easier. Within walking distance, there is a Denny's, a few bars, and a coffee house.
Overall, I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for an affordable and clean beach getaway. People expecting luxury may not like it, but for any couple or family looking for somewhere pleasant to spend a week on the beach, it will meet your needs quite nicely.
