Our vacation started when we checked in and found out that we were assigned to a smoking room
with a king bed- we had booked a non smoking with 2 beds as there were 4 people in the room.
We were promised air beds, which never arrived- when we called the front desk they were not
aware that we needed additional bedding- they brought a box spring with 1 sheet and 1 blanket
for our daughters to sleep on. The next morning- we inquired at the front desk - the manager
was very apologetic and booked us into an ocean front room- the room was better than our first
room, at least the door closed properly, and it was a non smoking with 2 beds. We slept very
well that nite. On our 3rd day after returning from supper- we found our ceiling scattered
with love bugs- and called the front desk- they said they would deal with it- an hour passed
and we were still standing outside. We wound up going to the front desk and discussing the
situation. We were offered to move again, as they would need to fumigate the room- In the end
we stayed in 3 rooms in 4 nites.....had it not been for the fact that we had prepaid for our
accommodations, we would have left after seeing the first room. We found the the pool area at
the hotel was dirty and not attended to. Garbage was left behind and not picked up till the
end of the nite. If we ever go to Cocoa Beach again- we would not stay at this hotel.

“Seen better days”

Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach - Oceanfront

Sep 2, 2008

Stayed here for 2 nights for Labor Day and like most reviews say, this place had definitely seen better days.
It looks nice as you drive up and the Promenade is very nice, with a large walkway and pretty landscaping. The pools look very nice. although we didn't use. It seemed like the kids Pirate Pool was the hot spot of the property.
Things go downhill fast when you finally get into a room. The rooms are painted in a tacky looking high gloss paint-all the better to clean up I guess. The air conditioner was fairly loud, but did cool the room. Unfortunately, the huge gap under the door allowed so much outside air in, that the carpet felt wet. Wouldn't walk around in here in bare feet. The carpet seemed fairly clean, but the chairs and tables were filthy looking. The bedding looked relatively new and clean....that's where I would sit.
The bathroom looked clean, although it did appear that someone had kicked the door in some time in the past and the mirror on the back of the door was falling off. Toilet rocked too, like it was loose on its base. Water pressure was actually pretty good.
We were in the Oceanside building, near the outdoor restaurant and Saturday night the band played until 11 pm, which meant no quiet until 11:30. Such a small space as the outdoor bar/restaurant really doesn't need such a huge sound system. At times, the noise level was painful.
Entry to the rooms is from outside corridors, so its lots of fun when other guests let their children run down the building, playing with door handles all the way. With the quality of the doors, you're not really sure someone isn't going to be able to open the door on you. At least we were on the side of the building away from the ocean. While a view of the ocean would have been nice, others in our party who stayed on that side of the building got rain coming into their rooms under the doors and through the air conditioners.
There are no in room safes and no breakfast is offered-a true anomaly in this day and age. Basically, they are a family oriented destination and most people brings their kids, spend all day at the beach or the pool, eat on the property and leave their dollars there. I guess the owners feel they don't need to fix the place up as long as people keep coming and I guess they figure if the kids do damage, its not a big deal. We did eat at the oceanside restaurant (outdoors) and the food was ok and reasonable in price.
If you want to relax at the beach and enjoy any adult pursuits, look elsewhere-this is definitely a place for people with young children who don't expect polish and would rather stay someplace where they don't have to spend too much time staying on top of what their kids are doing. The place seemed pretty safe and there was a security force in evidence.
I wouldn't say it was unsanitary but its not pretty and its days appear to be numbered.

“Oh my god”

Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach - Oceanfront

Aug 23, 2008

All I can say is Oh my god - don't do it. This is a total dump. Walked into the filthy, stained, unairconditioned lobby to an unwelcoming front desk agent. A/C was not working in the lobby or hotel stores. Room was filthy. Actually horrifying. There was a bug in the sink to greet me, the room was musty, dark, and dungeon like. It was tiny and just old and dirty. I could not even bring my luggage up, I was scared something would crawl into it. Fellow hotel guests were shady, and some looked downright dangerous. I asked the front desk if some of the guests actually lived there?? they just didn't look like people on vacation. Pools look nice, but they are slimy, doors on the room look like someone tried to break in, there is a 1 inch gap between the door and the floor which must invite all kinds of pests into the room. Water damage was evident, as all of the roofs looked like they were molded rotten and about to fall in. Water stains everywhere. It felt like the hotel was literally rotting away. The worst part is the Hilton down the road is only about $10 per night higher (call them directly), but worlds better. All I can say is don't do it, or consider yourself fairly warned if you do. Beware this is one of Hotwires 3 star hotel picks, so if you use Hotwire this may be where they book you,. Be careful.

“Just felt clammy the whole time...”

Definitely not one of Holiday Inn's better establishments... Check-in was fine. The place is huge so the map they give you is necessary. The hallways had obviously not been swept in a while and probably not painted in a few years. The room was nice by 1998 standards: decent but nothing special compared to other Holiday Inns. All the corridors are outdoors and the doors need better sound-proofing: you'll hear a good bit of noise outside if you are a light sleeper. I can see why kids would love this place: the pool is geared for kids and it shows with tons of screaming children everywhere. If you have kids and don't need a fancy place to stay, this is your hotel. If you're looking for a nice relaxing romantic getaway on the beach, look elsewhere.

“HORRIBLE, DON'T STAY!!!!”

Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach - Oceanfront

The "Kids Suite" is supposed to be so great, but it wasn't. Don't waste your money, it is a regular room which they built a partial wall and put a bunk bed, a toddler size bed, a dresser with a tv on it. These beds aren't even twin size beds! Makes the room smaller. The room was supposed to come with a refrigerator, which wasn't in the room when we went in. We called the front desk and they told us it was a $10/p/d charge. When we reminded them we were in a kids suite they stated there wasn't an additional charge. They promptly brought a refrigerator to the room. We had to track down house keeping to get a garbage can which seemed to be missing from the room. When they brought it to us, it was disgustingly dirty. The door to the room appeared as if someone tried to break into the room (not while we were there). The bathroom door at the bottom was splittering, the bathtub had the porcelain peeling off which it appeared that just painted right over it. The shower trickled out!! The sink area had little tiny nats constantly flying around. The A/C sounded like a helicopter taking off constantly. Way, Way, Way overpriced for the rooms. Wouldn't recommend anyone staying there. I did speak with the front desk about the problems, they did reduce our rate but I still feel it was overpriced. When I asked if they were going to renovate, she stated they were going to tear it completely down and rebuild but she stated they have been telling them that for several years. They definitely need to tear it down!!!!
