First off let me say that the company I work for owns related hotels -- that being said, I felt I should book my room through an IHG affiliate. Unfortunately, the property was unwilling to honor my employee rate. Still, I opted to stay at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront. I was disappointed that my bathroom was not cleaned on my second day there, nor were the towels refreshed and replaced. We went to a restaurant after a day at NASA and sat for over 15 minutes without service; you'd think if the hotel was sold out for a NASA launch, the management would have put on enough wait staff to serve the customer load. Frankly, the restaurant wasn't even full -- maybe 6 other tables. Another couple, seated after we were, left before we did because they hadn't received service either. The pool area had puddles of slimey water that could not possibly have accumulated overnight--watch your step!
The hotel was sold out Friday and Saturday nights due to the launch but space freed up immediately after. Went back to the front desk to see about moving rooms to something oceanfront. They wanted $150 per night to move. Frankly, the "resort" simply wasn't worth it, and they again wouldn't offer me employee pricing. We made a call to the Hilton and moved to a MUCH nicer hotel for the same price ($99 per night) we were charged at the Holiday Inn. Bottom line -- not worth the price. Go down the street and stay at the Hilton where you get better service, friendlier hotel staff, and better surroundings at a hotel that is still oceanfront.
