“Old Hotels Lashed Together + Tennis Court Do Not Make a "Resort."”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

This is fine if you're just looking for an average hotel on the beach to stay in, but it's NOT a resort. It's a former Holiday Inn plus a bunch of other nearby hotels all together.

I guess the management is working on improvements, (there was evidence of construction) but there's still a ways to go. Chipped mirrors... faded carpet.... our door didn't close completely... cracked paint... pools of water in the parking lot... cracked tennis court... crooked and faded signs... on and on and on. TOutside of the lovely lobby, the whole thing just seemed second-rate.

The employees suffered from comparison to our mini-stop at Downtown Disney and lunch at the Ron Jon resort. Our servers at the the breakfast grill were terrific. Otherwise the employees seemed pissed and unhappy to even be there. We did get room towels on request but there were no towels at the pool and the front desk had none when we went looking for them. Guy selling beach chairs pressured us to get an umbrella. Guy at the gift shop didn't want to bother with letting us pay for chairs there "because it's a pain." And so on and so on.

The bar (and bartender) is nice and it's right on the beach. Breakfast was pretty good and prices not hideous. The foliage was nice. But the set-up of the property is really confusing and it takes a lot of navigating to get from one place to another.

It's fine if you just want an average hotel, but don't go here looking for a resort experience. For that in the Cocoa Beach area, I'd suggest Ron Jon's Cape Carribe. We had lunch there and it was gorgeous.

“Recharging From The Holidays”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

My family and I decided to take a last minute vacation to recharge from the holidays and get away from the cold. My husband booked the International Palms Resort, packed our suitcases, loaded the kids into the car, and headed to Florida. BEST DECISION EVER! We had such a wonderful time. The moment we pulled up we were greeted by the staff who immediately began to assist us with our luggage, and checking in. The check in process was effortless and the team behind the counter really made us feel at home. After getting settled into our room we headed down to the pool where the kids swam and played and I was able to get some much needed "me" time with a fruity drink and sun in my face. Even though we had transportation to travel further out we found ourselves dinning at Mambos and Captains Grill every day. Not only was the staff friendly and fast, but our food was delicious too. We could tell the resort was going through some upgrades but not once were we put out or bothered with any noise. Our family had such a wonderful trip that not only will we be telling our friends and family about the International Palms Resort but we have decided to make going there a new family tradition! Thanks again, International Palms Resort staff, for making our family feel as if we were your number one priority! See you next year!

Room Tip: We chose a room with a king bed an area that is sectioned off with bunk beds! My kids felt like they...

“Bed bug alert”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

We skipped a night at the Hilton in Orlando and moved here - a definite disappointment! I got bed bug bites in the room we were in the first night, which overlooked the tennis courts. It smelled funny and seemed old. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were moved to beachfront for the next 2 nights, which helped us feel better about the place in general. It looks great from the street, not so great inside the rooms.

Room Tip: Ask for beachfront.

Regarding your comments about being bitten by bed bugs in your room, we have a pest inspection company that visits the hotel regularly and thoroughly inspects the rooms. To date, we have never had a report come back positive for bed bug activity in any of our rooms.

We thank you again for your alerting us in regards to your experience. Bed bugs in the U.S. is a widely recognized problem which has affected not only the hotel industry, but hospitals, college dormitories and private multiple dwellings as well. It is suspected that this problem is a direct result of increased international travelers since bed bugs are easily transported in suitcases, purses and clothing, etc.
We do have an aggressive pest control policy in place which includes regularly scheduled professional inspections to prevent infestation from occurring. We have also trained our housekeeping & maintenance personnel to assist in early recognition of an infestation. These standard procedures require that the room be quarantined until a thorough inspection by professionals be conducted. This policy has been fully executed in this case.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Thank you
Dustin S.

“Recommend for families or friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

I stayed here recently with my family and had a wonderful time. The hotel is situated perfectly on the beach and provides an outstanding view and surroundings. The pool area is fantastic and also features a pirates ship area for smaller children. The food and cocktails were also wonderful. To relax in Cocoa Beach, we didn't need to leave the resort. The service and staff were perfectly accommodating to our needs. Rooms were wonderful and clean. We recommend a two story room on the south side.

“Do not understand the poor reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I was somewhat apprehensive after reading the reviews but had already booked so decided to give the International Palms Resort a go anyway. I was extremely happy with the stay and was confused by all the poor reviews compared to my experience. During a conversation with the manager I spoke about my previous apprehension. He said there was a lot of changes going on within the resort with the new management and many of the complaints have been heard and are being corrected within the resort. If the old reviews are correct I can definitely see what he was talking about.

From checking in to checking out the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I enjoyed eating at Mambos and Captains Grill, the wait staff was extremely quick, made great recommendations, and was very well prepared. It was obvious the resort is going through upgrades but it is also key to point out that things like noise or other problems that occur were barely noticeable and the general cleanliness of the everything there was well above expectations.

I have stayed at many hotels as I travel a lot for business and have to say that the International Palms Resort is a place I would definitely stay again and highly recommend to others, especially for the value. I am actually excited to travel back to see how some of the renovations turn out.
