We've stayed in several Cocoa Beach hotels/resorts and this one rates somewhat higher for value. It's very nice to have the small kitchen and refrigerator/microwave for simple breakfasts or lunches.
The resort isn't necessarily top dog; it's a pool, shuffleboard (game equipment is no where to be found), outdoor lounge, a small children's play area and the beach. But if you're into hard-core surf and sun, it doesn't matter and you shouldn't have to pay for things you don't use. The only beachfront rooms are those in the multi-story tower closer to the beach.
Our room was clean, but well worn. The linens were clean, beds passibly comfortable. There wasn't a hint of mildew or that mildew/mold smell that we've smelled in other hotels around Cocoa Beach. Some improvements to the room were mystifying; an ill-fitting tub and shower insert and possibly the lowest sitting toilet on the planet. The cable TV service is poor in number of channels and the overall reception. The good news here is that it's not really the hotel's fault since the same cable company services the resort we stayed at in Orlando subsequent to this stay and it was horrible there too.
There's plenty of noise from adjoining rooms either from slamming doors, foot traffic, the air conditioner or TVs/radios blaring through walls. The Best Western is located just a block from the Cocoa Beach Pier, which means there's a lot of non-hotel guests around the beach. The beach seemed to be a lot dirtier here; litter, bottles, cups and a lot of cigarette butts in the sand.
The pool is well-kept. Sand brought in from inconsiderate guests who visit the beach first without showering off is removed at least on a daily basis. Unfortunately, it seems the bartenders at the Veranda lounge like to play their music quite loud and it's a little distracting while sitting at the pool. Towels are provided at the pool free of charge. The chairs and lounges around the pool are comfortable and in good working order.
Best Western offers free broadband internet access at a lot of its hotels, but here it is limited to a wireless connection in the lobby. There is however, a computer that you can use if you don't want to bring your own laptop.
Overall, an average stay that permitted affordable beach and fun in the sun.
