“Beach Access ok - the rest .. you get what you pay for”
Compared with other Hilton properties, this hotel is relatively inexpensive. However, you get what you pay for. I stayed on the 6th floor reserved for Hilton Honors members which was shabby with stained wallpaper, faded carpet and in urgent need of attention. The carpeting in my room was discolored in many sections where other furniture had obviously been replaced and stained in others. When I arrived after traveling 6 hours, I was met by a worker on scaffolding directly outside my window, pounding at the window and preparing the site for work. Needless to say, I was unable to rest until well past 5 when the work stopped - and by then I was off to a business dinner - totally exhausted. The bathroom and furniture show significant wear. And although the linens were clean and fresh, some areas of the bathroom clearly needed attention. The air conditioning in these units is loud and cycles on and off disturbing any sleep - no adjustment would stop the cycling or the tremendous thrust on and off. This property does have its high points. It has incredible access to the beach and there is a strong breeze from the ocean which keeps outside areas cool. Unfortunately, the property is L shaped and oddly situated to take full advantaged of this from inside. The bar outside doesnt make the best use of the ocean breeze either. The meeting space at the hotel is off to one side - but the flimsy partitions make the noise from other meetings intrusive. Given all the things that are wrong with this hotel - the staff is nice and cordial and try to make accommodations where possible. One note of caution - there is a difference between ocean view and ocean front. Front desk staff will offer to upgrade you to ocean view which means a small sliver of the ocean if you stand to one side of your window and crane you neck - totally NOT WORTH IT.
Watch for ocean-view rooms - it means you can see a sliver of the ocean if you stand at the very end...
