We booked two rooms for a couple of nights, a Sun and Mon, for my wife and I and one of our sons family. While the hotel had an older feel to it, overall it seemed to be well maintained. Even in February the outdoor heated pool was open as was a place to rent beach chairs, umbrellas, and stuff. The hotel is right on the Atlantic and the beach out front is beautiful with super fine sand. Not too good for shells at least when we were there. We happened to be there during a relative cold snap but it warmed enough for a shorts and short-sleeved shirt walk on the beach the second day.
The Hotel's foyer and lobby are spacious and contain a decent restaurant and gift shop. The bellhops and front desk clerks were enthusiastic and helpful, as were all the staff we had opportunity to interact with, including the restaurant staff. There is a note on the website saying that front facade work is being done, and it was, but it was minimal and had no impact on the quality of our stay. While we did not use the fitness room it looked well stocked.
While our rooms were spacious and the beds great, they rooms could have been cleaned a little better. Nothing major just dust that had been around for a while in a few areas. There are three "view"options to choose from: direct ocean facing, facing up and down the coast, and facing towards the street, with ocean facing being the most expensive. We had one ocean facing and one coastline facing and the coastline facing actually offered the best views. I would choose that view again. I would not chose street facing as you miss too much by not being able to look at the water from your room. Unfortunately, no rooms had balconies. I think all the rooms have a small refrigerator.
We only used the onsite restaurant once, for breakfast, and it was good. The breakfast options were: a la carte; full hot breakfast buffet with the usual fare (I think it was $15+), and a cold fruit, bread, cereal, juice/coffee buffet for $10. We chose the latter and found it to be plenty filling and pleasing to all five adults in our group.
The hotel was quiet, comfortable, reasonably priced (using AARP rates), and friendly. Despite its age, we would definitely stay at this Hilton again.
