I would like to start by saying that my husband and I have gone on many excursions over the last 5 years. This by far was one of the best we've ever been on. Tim, the owner, is one of the nicest and informative people you will ever meet. He does not mix groups. He takes a group of 1-6 people. For our trip, it was just my husband and myself. We went on the expedition on March 27, 2008. We were very lucky to have incredible weather, as the weather was a little funky earlier in the week. Tim manages his boat with ease and really makes the experience about his customer not just the animals. Upon boarding his boat, he asks for people to sigh his boat. He likes to be able to see a name and remember the experience he had with that group. Tim makes each name a true part of his boat. So, once you leave the boat, you're still a part of it. How awesome!
Tim took us out and we saw a small family of dolphin. They were adorable and beautiful. One of them was playing peek-a-boo with us. When Tim found the dolphin, we stayed there for about 20-25 mins, just watching them do their thing. I was able to get some cool pics of them too. After we saw the dolphin we went on the hunt for manatee. We only got to see a few manatee. It was their lazy day. It was so cool to see such a gentle creature, just sleep. I loved the foot print they left in the water when they would swim away. Not only did Tim tell us about the behavior of dolphins and manatees he told us about the different kinds of birds and plants that are in the area. Tim defiantly knows his stuff. After our animal encounters we went kayaking. Kayaking thru the mangroves was amazing. My husband and I felt like we were in an untouched part of the world. It was so quiet and serene. We could have stayed in the mangroves all day.
I recommend this excursion to everyone who is in the Orlando/Cocoa Beach area. It is an experience you will never forget. It's great for any age group. We will do it again the next time we're in Cocoa Beach. We loved how personal and close we were able to get to the animals. It makes you appreciate nature at a whole other level.
