“Good Food, Good Band”

Coconuts On The Beach

Apr 2, 2008

Family of 6 (with children) ate for early dinner on a Wednesday evening. Weather was windy/colder so beach was not crowded that day. When we entered we almost left due to loud heavy metal music blaring. However a band (Buffet style) started playing so we stayed (and enjoyed them tremendously). The staff was a but slow and not tremendously friendly but adequate. We enjoyed our food a lot, almost everyone ate fish and liked it. The outside bar atmsphere was pretty amazing. I would go back when in the area, but would time it early on a weekday again.

I knew this was likely to be a tourist trap but we are new to Cocoa Beach and had kids to feed. This restaurant has been a fixture at Cocoa Beach for some time. It is high on marketing and serving a young clientele. It desperately needs attention to the food and service.

When we walked in the entrance next to the beach we were confused. On the deck there is a bar and tables right on the beach. It had a party atmosphere which would have been fun. There was no host to be found. We stopped a waiter and asked where to go to get a table. He kindly took us inside to one of his tables. Apparently you seat yourself here.

We ordered drinks. The tropical drinks were quite tasty and only about $5. That was a bargain as drinks go. The menu was quite average with smattering of different dishes including fish (Mahi Mahi), Pasta, Chicken, Beef, Burgers, Sandwiches etc. I asked the waiter for recommendations and told us to avoid the fish. He admitted he preferred beef. My wife had the Mahi Mahi with mango salsa. It was undercooked and part of the dish was even cold. I had Coconut Shrimp. Neither was fresh and clealy both were pre-packaged foods. My son's burger was overcooked. To be honest I dd not expect anything more here than a Chili's or a Bennigans but I don't think this place rose to either of those low standards. If you go, do it for the party atmosphere, cheap drinks, location on the beach and a quick snack. Don't goo expecting a good dinner and you won't be disappointed.

Ate here twice in one May week, mostly because the tables are right on the beach. Went on Sunday as most people were leaving the beach, yet still plenty of sexual stuff going on on the beach, so if you have observant kids in tow, beware! Much quieter on a Thursday. Friendly staff, nice live music. We are in our 60's but weren't the oldest! Great sweet potato fries, and good quality seafood choices. Did not really order traditional bar food, so can't comment on other reviews. the facility itself is not fancy, but since it's right on the beach, I'm sure it takes a beating in storms.

My GF and I ate here recently on a trip. She ordered her Mahi Mahi with the relish on the side. When she said that could not eat cilantro the guy said with a very irritated attitude " so you are not going to eat it" and then took the dish off and scraped off the relish leaving the cilantro on the fish. We had to send it back and the waitress warned us that the kitchen had already made her cry that day. The bathroom was worse than a convenience store and was way beyond filthy.
