“Horrific!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2006

We vacation at the beach every year. This was the first and last
time at this place. The service was terrible, manager was rude and bored at any question, or comment. The worst was the apartment, we stayed in #616. The A/C didn't work, they tried several times to get it fixed however they were not successful, finally brought us 2 fans. The place stenched, we later realized it was the malfunctioning A/C. The microwave shut down in the middle of preparing a potato! The fridge didn't cool properly even on its highest setting. The carpet was so filthy that our feet got black from walking on it. We traveled with our son and his family which included a 16 month old baby. Keeping him off the carpet was our goal for this very short stay. No Houskeeping!!!! We were not informed of this when the rez was made. We've stayed in many beautiful condo settings in FL over the last 25+ years and this was a first. There were basketball leagues staying at the place and the players dedicated themselves to running and hollering in the passageways right outside the front bedroom. Charley their maintenance guy, tried but didn't get too far in resolving. Thank God we were able to get an alternate place and checked out of there the second morning of our 4 night stay. We couldn't check out the first day because if you do after 10am they penalize you with a $225 charge! I was able to confirm us elsewhere at 9:30am, not enough time to get out of there. The pool is tiny, and situated in the middle of the parking lot. No exageration, there are actually parking spots against the concrete railings of the pool. Let me not forget that the staff is rude as other reviews have indicated. The place was so horrible, that it negated the balcony view which was nice. Why in the world this dump would be called a "Resort" is beyond me! I've contacted AAA, hopefully to help others from botching their vacation time like we did. I'm furious that they cut into 2 of our cherished days with our family. Shame on them for their nasty attitudes, and filthy, crummy place.

We go to a beach every year. Every year we try and go somewhere different. This was our first trip to Cocoa beach. Each year we rent a three bedroom condo, oceanfront. When we go we always have other people going with us, so our group ends up renting several condos. This year we had 4 other familys that went the same time staying in different rooms but at the same place. (I just wanted to give a little background so you would know what we experinced)

The people at check in where rude to say the least, not a bit friendly or helpful. (our group did not all check in at the same time and everyone experienced the same thing some not as bad as others) They acted as if it was a bother for us to ask question such as do you have grills on the ground somewhere? Other places we had stayed had them and we had used them in a common area. The lady acted as if we had lost our mind. We asked about the weather again it was if she was put out by our questions. We wanted to pay in cash and again it was if we lost our mind. Anyway you get the point not a good impression. Another thing when we checked in you have to have a tag to be able to swim in the pool. There are eight in our family and to say the least it was very annoying to keep up with these little arm band tags. We had never experienced this at any other place. You also are given a check list of everything that the room contains and are told to go up and check it and sign it bring it back down. If thing are missing you will be charged. (you have to count every fork and bathroom plunger).

The room was great. The veiw from the balcony was awesome. We saw dolphins from the balcony on several occasions. The kitchen is small and if you plan on cooking alot you will run out of pots and pans. (We only fixed simple dishes, hamburgers, pasta) It was in a great location. We went to Disney and Daytona beach on day trips and it was a great location. You are near a wal-mart and anything else you would need. The pool is small. They have a game room which the kids enjoyed. The excerise room was wonderful. They have two computers if you need to check e-mail. But you better not ask before 9:00 a.m. or again you will get the same rude service. They have planned activities everyday which was nice. Another thing that I loved was that you could take your towels down everyday and switch them out, which is something that I had never seen before. But again be sure not to do it before 10:00 a.m. or you will get the same rude service. You also will get a tidy up service midweek which is something we have never had at other spots.

We had a great vacation, and again this is a very nice place to stay. The service was just really bad. Would I go there again. Yes, but I would try my best not to ask questions and make sure I didn't ask for anything.

Discovery Beach is a nice place to stay especially if you like walks on the beach - it's located directly on the beach. The rooms are large enough -- we had a 2 bedroom unit with more than enough space. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pool area is a little small for the size of the complex but if you get there early enough you'll get a lounge chair. It's located about 40 minutes from Orlando and about 10 minutes from KSC. I'd have to give it an A- but only because of its small pool area. We loved our stay!!
