Many of the hotels in Cocoa Beach are old and beat up by a combination of time and family beach traffic. The Courtyard is one of the few that you can safely book online knowing that their will be no shock on arrival as often is the case elsewhere. It delivers what most travelers expect when a resort area is their travel destination. The rooms are large, modern, well appointed and clean. Don't be fooled by the pictures of other "beach resorts" in Cocoa area - the Courtyard delivers on its promises.

The hotel is gorgeous and the staff was very helpful. They gave us a beautiful room on the 6th floor that had an ocean view and a balcony. We had asked for an early check in as we had arrived at 8 am on a red eye flight. We got our rental car and drove to Cocoa Beach from Orlando. Had breakfast, slept in the car for about an hour and then went to the hotel to see about changing into swimsuits to go to the beach while waiting for a room. By the time we had gone in and changed into our suits, our room was ready. The beach access is a nice path. If you want to rent chairs and an umbrella, check at the front desk so that they can call and have the person meet you at the beach. Everything was clean. They even have a person serving mixed drinks and wine. I would definitely stay there again without hesitation. Make sure you go to the Dixie Crossroads for Seafood. It was the best seafood that my husband and I had ever tasted.

“Reunion Weekend”

I was in Cocoa Beach for my 40th high school Reunion which was held at this hotel.

My second floor room was large and comfortable with a nice private lanai. The bed was plush, the bathroom was large, well vented and supplied with nice amenities.

The ballroom where the reunion was held was large and well equipped for our function. The food was well prepared but the cash bar was pricey. The on site restaurant was also a bit pricey but cheaper fare was available within a very reasonable walk.

Ron John's Surf shop is only a couple of blocks to the north and that alone is always worth the trip to Cocoa Beach.

The pool was a real plus. It has the attraction of being partially shaded by Oak trees for those of us who are fair skinned.

I stayed here with my extended family on the way back from a Disney Cruise that departed from, and returned to Port Canaveral. We had three rooms booked for three families.

We got to the Marriott early (11 AM) since we had just gotten off the boat. We knew we had a 1 PM check-in but though we might be able to get in early. This was our last full day in FL so we wanted to spend as much time as possible at the beach.

I gave the check-in desk my cell phone number and told them to call me as soon as ANY of the three rooms were ready so we could unload our luggage from the cars, change clothes, and go straight to the beach.

Instead we spent most of the day sitting by the pool while the hotel got our rooms ready. 1 PM came and went and they still didn't even have ONE of the three rooms ready for us. We went back tot he counter every 45 minutes or so and they gave us the key to the first room at 2:30. Finally at about 4 PM my cell phone rang, the other two were ready! By then most of the day was done and we were planning on dinner.

The final straw was when we went to check out the following day: there was a $9 bar charge on my bill. I disputed the charge because I had my own cooler at the pool with water, pop, beer and snacks. It was unlikely that anyone in my party ordered drinks, but rather than take me at my word the manager made me wait while she went to her office and rifled through all of yesterday's receipts.

She held up our entire party from departing for 15 long minutes while she confirmed what I had already said to her, 'we didn't order at the bar'. Turns out someone had been ordering drinks and charging them to lots of different rooms, because as others checked out it the same thing happened to them.

Overall our stay at the Mariott was a let down. The whole point was to get checked in early and spend a day at the beach. The beach was a short walk away and that was nice. . . but not having a room from 11 AM to 4 PM was a bummer.

If being right near the beach isn't that important I would recommend the Radisson at the Port which has a much better pool. The beach was a short drive away from there, we didn't mind driving since we didn't bring a lot of beach toys, and also we didn't have trouble finding parking.

We stayed at the Courtyard for 5 days in January. It was a superb hotel. The staff were friendly and the food was very good. The rooms are big, very clean and the beds are comfortable. A big + is the free high speed internet and the clean pool-area. The hotel is close to almost every attraction in the area. We`ll come back and stay there anytime!:)
