I stayed here with my extended family on the way back from a Disney Cruise that departed from, and returned to Port Canaveral. We had three rooms booked for three families.
We got to the Marriott early (11 AM) since we had just gotten off the boat. We knew we had a 1 PM check-in but though we might be able to get in early. This was our last full day in FL so we wanted to spend as much time as possible at the beach.
I gave the check-in desk my cell phone number and told them to call me as soon as ANY of the three rooms were ready so we could unload our luggage from the cars, change clothes, and go straight to the beach.
Instead we spent most of the day sitting by the pool while the hotel got our rooms ready. 1 PM came and went and they still didn't even have ONE of the three rooms ready for us. We went back tot he counter every 45 minutes or so and they gave us the key to the first room at 2:30. Finally at about 4 PM my cell phone rang, the other two were ready! By then most of the day was done and we were planning on dinner.
The final straw was when we went to check out the following day: there was a $9 bar charge on my bill. I disputed the charge because I had my own cooler at the pool with water, pop, beer and snacks. It was unlikely that anyone in my party ordered drinks, but rather than take me at my word the manager made me wait while she went to her office and rifled through all of yesterday's receipts.
She held up our entire party from departing for 15 long minutes while she confirmed what I had already said to her, 'we didn't order at the bar'. Turns out someone had been ordering drinks and charging them to lots of different rooms, because as others checked out it the same thing happened to them.
Overall our stay at the Mariott was a let down. The whole point was to get checked in early and spend a day at the beach. The beach was a short walk away and that was nice. . . but not having a room from 11 AM to 4 PM was a bummer.
If being right near the beach isn't that important I would recommend the Radisson at the Port which has a much better pool. The beach was a short drive away from there, we didn't mind driving since we didn't bring a lot of beach toys, and also we didn't have trouble finding parking.
