“world class fishing but accomodations are not”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2011

The tiki bar is very nice and open with view of canal and locks. Our burger and philly cheese steak sandwiches were excellent. Big weekend hangout for bikers. We stayed in the campground and it was nasty and unkept with garbage and broken glass everywhere. And the smell.....yuk!! It smelled like a livestock yard or sewerage treatment plant was just down the street. Lots of road noise from trucks on the highway to wake you up. Planned to stay a week but left after the first night due to the smell. We looked at the "cabins" they were old and run down trailers. Sure am glad we were not staying there.

The office closed at five. We had brought our laptop and wanted to access their wi-fi. We called the office to ask for the password but no one answered the phone. What if we'd had a real problem with the room? There is no lobby to mingle with friends and family so had to sit outside in the freezing temps. The toilet ran all night. There was no hot water. Barely warm. The plug didn't work for the tub even if I'd wanted to relax in a hot bath. There was black mold(?) around the edge of the tub. It wasn't the worst room but it sure was far from the best. I think I'll just stay at the Holiday Inn next time.

My wife, our nephew and myself had to meet our son and his "main squeeze" at the resort because of their Christmas work schedule. We all had a swell time. The efficiency was very clean, comfortable, and well stocked. The restaurant served affordable, well prepared burgers, sandwichs, and fried foods. The gift shop had plenty of gift items and the prices were reasonable. We even got to meet Mary Ann Martin! We fished with Cpt. Mark King on Okeechobee and had a blast! We caught numerous Largemouth Bass (a couple over 4 lbs.) and bowfins using shiners. I would recommend Cpt. Mark to anyone needing a guide. He's very professional, knows the lake, and will put you on big bass. Great time on the water! We're already planning a return trip.

The pictures are not what they seem !! the trailers are old and run down they say they have new ones but we did not see them, there was some bugs in the room and the smell was not to good.
I would never go there again, if you like to fish and don't care about where you sleep this may work for you.. but really thing twice about this place.

Stayed here for a week, the room was good value, large room with 2 double beds, perfectly adequate for a fisherman and all his tackle. I ate at the bar some evening, friendly atmosphere and reasonable food, burgers, steak, fish etc. with a good selection of beers. In the evenong you can sit outside overlooking the Marina pond with it's collection of alligators waitinf for some free offerings, they seemd to like the Corn remains. I hired a boat for the week, unfortunately you have to collect it each day a a separate hire and had to return it by 16.30, far too early and meant I missed the early evening fishing between 16.00 - 10.00. That was a real shame. However I caught a load of fish everyday, mainly bass but also a Cat fish and a Bowfin of around 12lb (big toothy brute)

Above average because the efficiency room was very clean and spacious. The property has a gift shop, fishing tackle shop, restaurant and tiki bar. The food is the usual sandwiches, fish & chips, etc. The tiki bar draws a lot of locals and seemed to be the hot spot for Clewiston, which is a tiny little town. All of the staff was friendly and accommodating.
A minor annoyance was the heated pool was destroyed in 2005 yet they still advertise it in their brochures. And the outdoor pool, yes it was off season but HOT, was not maintained. Much Much too dirty to swim in.
Also a word of caution about fishing this part of Okeechobee. Bass fishing is in a terrible decline in this area. I recommend calling ahead to fishing guides or wildlife officers before making the trip and coming up empty handed. If your going just to see Okeechobee, you will not be disappointed.
