Having just moved to Clermont we are checking out LOTS of new restaurants; we've eaten plenty of good Mexican food across the country and based on the reviews San Jose's looked promising.
We were seated promptly, but it took a long time for the server to come to the table. Water, chips and salsa appeared quickly; followed by margaritas. The salsa was good and spicy with a great smokey flavor. Margaritas were very good (ordered 'bar')and then found out it was before 7PM and they were only $3.25!
The mariachi in the room were were good, not to loud and circled the room taking requests
Small order of guacamole with our chips was average.
I ordered one of the combination platters consisting of a tamale (chicken and green chili) which was very good; and a burrito and enchilada (both chicken) both were luke warm and only OK. As were the rice and beans.
My partner had the Enchiladas Supreme - five enchiladas: chicken, beef, pork, bean and cheese. The were barely warm, the cheese enchilada was already solidified, the beans were OK and all of the others tasted the same.
Our server (J. Antonio, from the name on the back of his shirt) dropped off the food and disappeared. Never checked back to see if everything was OK, or to see if we wanted another cocktail. Actually had to stop another server to get our check; the other server actually cleared our table and brought back the check. Our server came to take our money ...
Everything was just OK, but the server really killed it for us... we'll have to move on to other places
