“What an awesome place to attend a conference!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

I attended a conference recently at this hotel. All I can say is wow, what an awesome spot! The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable. The pillows were so great that I immediately looked up the website and ordered some for my own bed at home! The pool area was nice and clean. The hotel sits right on a really nice stretch of white sand beach, although there is a bit of a walk on the sand to actually reach the water's edge. Saw a wedding taking place on the beach on the property on an awesome weather evening. The conference rooms were nice. The food was pretty good.

Hard to believe it when you arrive at night. You just drive and drive and see only hotels, buildings and parking, but when you wake up in the morning and you have an upper level room with a view on the beach, what you see is unreal! Hundreds of meter of beach with white sand only. It is white, pure, looks like snow, and the water has that beautiful color that makes you think that after all this is not real and you are just sleeping. If it was not t for the light making your eyes blinks, you would just believe that you are having that wonderful dream that you are facing some kind of heaven on hearth.
Besides this, the service was not really what i was expected, maybe because it was Spring Breaks and the staff was over booked, but i found the room service inefficient. Just make sure you check what is delivered to you, which i didn't because i was to tired to. Lesson learned. The great thing is that i was not charge for my order, so thumbs up!

Our stay was "just ok." We were there for my husband's birthday, so we were inquired about a room upgrade. The young man who checked us in said that there were conferences being held at the hotel. My husband said, "Are you sure? We booked well in advance and requested a great view and it's my birthday." His response: "I can't make extra rooms." While this is true, I do believe a more professional response would have been a bit more acceptable. After see our tiny little room with a view of a tennis court/dumpster, we called back downstairs and were told by this same young man, that a room had opened. We jumped on it, only to learn that we were stuck with an adjoining room, where we could hear EVERY SINGLE WORD coming from the couple next door, including their forks hitting their plates at 4 am!! Our view was wonderful, but you could hear everything going on a the pool too. I must say, the manager was very apologetic once she learned what happened and tried to rectify the situation afterwards. This is the only reason we might go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without an adjoining door. This may cause you to not have a view of the pool, but it...

My husband and I always rate our experience with a restaurant or hotel afterwards by asking ourselves the question- Would we go back ?
Sometimes we agree , sometimes we don't , sometimes we have qualifiers .
With the Sheraton Sand Key Resort ,
our unanimous answer is Absolutely !
The location is so convenient- a straight shot from the airport .
We did hit rush hour traffic and an accident on the way in, which doubled our travel time to an hour. It only took us about a half hour going back to the airport.
There is a gas station on the way back to the airport , just past the Christmas Store , for those
wishing to fill up their rental cars before returning.
The resort is immaculate and beautifully maintained. Indoors and out .
Every employee we encountered was welcoming and friendly.
From check in to housekeeping to the Club Lounge attendants.
We used the computer in the Club Lounge to print our boarding passes and we felt like fools, but, could not figure out how to print the passes.
We called the desk and they sent up a gentleman who was so helpful. I gathered that we were not the first who could not find the hidden print icon.
He told us how much he enjoyed working at the SSK and that attitude was evident from everyone else we encountered.
I have found that well run establishments generally have pleasant and helpful staff.
Parking is convenient and included in the room rate.
We stayed in a Club Level room , so we had internet access included in the rate.
From the website it appears that all rooms are equal in size , except for the suites.
The room was a little smallish as was the balcony, but, the dimensions were on full display on the website, I just didn't notice .
The room size did not detract from our positive experience.
The bathroom is tiny !
A toilet and a bath/ shower combo .
Outside the bathroom is a single sink on one side and an alcove for the coffee station on the other. The coffee station could easily be put on the room bureau and that entire area enclosed with a door to make the bathroom and sink area much bigger .
Not a deal breaker , just an observation.
Our room did not have a small refrigerator which I always appreciate when traveling.
It did have an in room safe .
Our view from the balcony was of the pool area and the Gulf and no complaints there !
Our room was soundproof and spotless .
Because we stayed on the Club Level, we had a continental breakfast and
evening hors d'oeuvres included.
It seemed like this extra would be better suited to business travelers and adults, rather than families with children.
Especially the evening appetizers. They do have dry cereal and fruit in the breakfast, the fare just seems geared toward adult tastes.
The Club Lounge was immaculate and the ladies were very pleasant.
They had a coffee machine that made great espresso and cappuccino ,
in addition to regular coffee.
The tea service included small tea pots which showed their attention to detail.
They had a large assortment of cut up fresh fruit, pastries ,bagels , dry cereals, yogurt and juice for breakfast .
The evening appetizers always had one hot app in a chafing dish and sometimes cheese and crackers or vegetables and dips.
The bar set up had an amazing assortment of top shelf liquors and mixers , plus red and white wine.
They did not skimp which some hotels do when they have cocktail hours.
We will book the Club Level again when we return.
We did not eat in the resort restaurants, but, they seemed to have many options from fancy to casual.
Plus, the little store open 24/ 7 where you can get pre made sandwiches and salads, coffee, yogurt, donuts, fresh fruit , wine etc, in addition to magazines and sun tan lotion.
That is such a nice resort feature.
The pool was always busy , but, never seemed overly crowded.
There was a professional conference ongoing when we were there and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves without rowdiness.
We were there in the off season so there was a definitely less hectic vibe.
Not just at the resort , but, all over Clearwater.
The beach was wonderful and uncrowded .
Just a 2 or 3 minute walk to the water.
I actually think the extra beach area adds to the ambiance and beauty of the resort.
I do have one complaint.
And that is about the resort website . The room rates are very confusing .
Sometimes it appears that a regular room is more expensive than the Club Level for the same period . We booked online and
when we got our confirmation via e-mail ,
the rate was different than what we had booked.
We called reservations and she was also confused by the rates on the website .
But, she did give us the rate we had booked from their website .
So, that area may need some tweaking.
We had a relaxing and recharging visit and plan on returning in the winter.

My family stayed here for two nights in September. We loved the pool area. It was never crowded. We always found a chair. There is a outside bar and snack shop. There is a small walk to the beach but not too far. The rooms are average. They really should be updated. The only complaint I have about this hotel is the noise levels. It so hard to sleep at night because the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. The ate at Frenchy's Rockaway Grill both nights on their patio and watched the sun set. Hotel has free parking.

Been here multiple times for business conferences and it is great for couples or families too. It's away from the main crowds of clearwater beach because it is on more exclusive Sand Key. This hotel is convenient because it is first hotel off bridge to sand key. it has a nice private beach area and is close to many restaurants on sand key. Plus unlike other hotels here it does not charge for parking... I will be back.

My husband and I just returned from a FABULOUS Fall Break at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort. We had such a great time on our third trip to this great little getaway! Our favorite thing about the Sheraton Sand Key is the people who work there. From reservations to front desk to fitness room to pool crew to concierge services to restaurant staffs to housekeeping to store ladies to the Turtle Express ... nothing but smiles, courtesy and professionalism! It's so much fun to return to a place where you're remembered each time you visit ... Bet that doesn't happen in very many resorts! We already have our next vacation to Sand Key on the calendar ... YAY!!!
