The Echo Sails is conveniently located within 5 minutes walk of the beach and pier. The road is fairly quiet and parking is off road and free immediately in front of the hotel. The rooms are old and tired, but are clean and comfortable. Room 12 was equipped with a small kitchen including microwave and a fridge that sounded a bit noisy on occassions. It also has a small TV with limited programming options. The bedroom has a double and a single bed and is located off the main sitting area.

The room was not made up daily, but towels will be laundered for you each day if required.

Overall, you get what you pay for. A nice quiet and clean hotel. It could be improved upon if the decor were brought up to date, but when you visit Florida, you are not there to hide in your room.

  • Liked — Clean and friendly
  • Disliked — Old and a bit tired. Heaters are arguably a death trap

My wife and I stayed at the Echo Sails Motel from 6th July to 10th July 2008,whilst on a Fly Drive holiday around Florida.
The motel is so well located for Clearwater beach and Pier 60,only one block away less then 5 mins to walk.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. Ours had a full functioning kitchen with microwave, coffee maker,fridge/freezer,pots-pans and cutlery.
We had a living area with air-conditioning unit, cable TV,sofa, table and chairs.
The bedroom had two beds, built in wardrobes and vanity unit.
The pool area and surrounding garden is well maintained with plenty of sun loungers and chairs. There is a small barbecue area for all to use.

The beach has sun loungers and umberellas to rent on a daily basis,we paid $18 for 2 loungers and 1 umberella.
There is also a cafe on the beach that does various selection of food at a reasonable cost.

We suggest eating out at Crabby Bills which is opposite Pier 60, also we drove down to St Johns Pass about 10 miles south of Echo sails. There we had a nice meal at Sculleys, also Bubba Gumps Restaurant was soon to be opened (Mid July).
Those of you that have a Sat Nav whilst in Clearwater, if you like a mexican meal try searching for (LOS MAYAS). This restaurant is about 3 miles from Echo Sails and had an excellent selection of mexican food at a superb price.

  • Liked — Closiness to Clearwater Beach and Marina
  • Disliked — Having to leave!!

We stay in room 13 VIP suite with 2 beds rooms and full kitchen. The appartement was very clean old style but comfortable. We were only 2 minutes walk from the pier 60 and the ocean. Perfect stay it cost 70$ per night and it worth every penny. Very well maintain motel very quiet. We will go back anytime.
Enjoy our stay so much. Every night at sunset there is some vendor on the pier 60 and some entertainer.

We were booked into the "The Sandman" for 2 weeks but it was so GROSS we left and were able to get a VIP room at the Echo Sails.
We have been to clearwater for many years and we have always walked by the Echo Sails and admired it .
Well we were not disappointed at all. John the owner and his wife are super nice people. The place is very very clean and we have nothing bad to say at all. My inlaws came with us and they liked it too. The room we had VIP was very spacious for the 4 of us.
We are booked back there again in July for 2 weeks and cant wait to go. We have 2 boys and they love it there too. I hope this place stays around for a long time.

My mother lives in Tampa and I live in North Carolina. When we go to Fla we stay at Echo Sails. The owners are great and the place is very clean. I have a teenage son who has spent many summer and fall vacations there and my daughter is only 4 but I hope she will be able to also!!!!
