When we last had dinner at Carrabba's, it was one of those occasions where the waitress seemed to be a bit scattered-brained, e.g., bringing another batch of bread but forgetting to also serve another small dish with spice/herb mix and olive oil for dipping it into. If the restaurant had been really busy, this would have been more understandable, but since there wasn't much going on in her section, this was disappointing. Also, she took her merry time to check for refills on beverages or whether we needed anything. At some point she must have noticed that she had somewhat neglected us (or maybe one of the many other waiters and waitresses pointed it out to her), which is when she was briefly very apologetic, albeit without offering any explanation as to what might have happened. To add insult to injury, the last batch of bread she brought must have been reheated several times given that it had about a 0.5 to 0.75 inch rock-hard layer inside the crust. But when she was clearing the table she grabbed everything so fast that none of us had time to swallow and mention this to her before she was already gone again. When she then brought dessert, the dish also must have been sitting out for quite some time, since the fritter part and pan had already cooled down considerably and were only lukewarm instead of searing hot, thereby robbing us of the normally excellent contrast between the apple frittata and huge vanilla ice cream ball in the center. We probably should have said something, but at that point we were so fed up that we just paid the tab and left. Sad, though, to see how one inattentive and/or distracted waitress in combination with a couple of faux pas in the kitchen can ruin a normally quite excellent dining experience.
