“Nice little place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Cute little hotel, great location and nice pool. Not crowded at all, so if you are looking for a nice, quiet place to stay, this is it! Suite was just the right size, we had four adults and two kids and it was fine. Great restaurant next door, along with Walgreens and liquor store. Also very close to beach, just a drive over the bridge.

We visited for an 8 night stay on 13th October. We stayed in a top floor, deluxe one bedroom suite located above the lobby. The suite was very clean, comfortable and overlooked the pool. The kitchen is fully equipped, with all you could need for a stay. The location is about a 20 minute stroll from Pier 60. The pool is heated and lovely and clean. Whilst we were there it was never busy, sometimes just the two of us laying there. Free bottled water was available from a container around the pool. The staff were very helpful and friendly and cannot praise them highly enough. The only negative points, were that I felt it needed some TLC in places. Lock on door to balcony hanging off and sink in bathroom not fixed to unit. Nothing to complain about but small things that would have given it a 5* review instead of a 4*.

Room Tip: Rooms above lobby look over pool.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at our property. Our property is great especially for those staying the extended amount because all of our suites are spacious with the fully equipped kitchens. Our staff has been here since the beginning and I couldn't ask for a better team, so thank you for recognizing them in your review. Thank you for pointing out the two issues regarding your suite and we are actually in the process of replacing the security pin locks on the sliding balconies with a clear tab that provides a better secondary lock for the balcony door. I hope that you stay with us again in the future.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

We stayed in a standard room (#211) at the Coconut Cove All Suite Hotel for two nights and found the whole place to be great value, providing more than we expected and just about close enough to everything one could want from a beachside holiday in Tampa.

The room was very spacious, with a large open plan living area connected to a large well equipped kitchen. The bedroom was also big with a nice sized comfortable bed and a grand HD television nice and close by to give one that chine a feel. The room also had a nice balcony; sadly with a view of the parking lot - but it is a standard room, mind.

The bathroom is also big - with a small room attached to it housing a safe, an ironing board, an iron and a plunger (!) in case one ever needs to make emergency plumbing repairs. The toiletries are great - lavender and rosemary scented. They even provide beach towels in addition to the abundant towels they offer. Nice touch.

The venue was located a little bit away from the main section of the stretch; so it seemed a little out of the way, but not to its detriment. There are a few local rowdy bars and a Subway and a Walgreens flank it on either side. There is also two nearby restaurants which offer a 10% discount to hotel residents. There is a nice deep pool in the hotel with deck chairs and music playing all day giving it a nice holiday feel. There is access to a small private beach very close by - yet if one prefers the main beach is less than a 10 minute walk away.
The pier is a little further on, but the walk is lovely.

Parking was ample, but comes at an additional $10 per day charge which seems a bit of a robbery.

The positive aspects include two very helpful receptionists Tina and Mia. Tina particularly was so helpful that we extended our stay an extra night after she explained what one should do around the area.
The pool was great - so nice to find a pool which is deep enough for adults to not be able to touch the bottom when standing.
Our housekeeper was also very kind and polite.

The negative aspects include noise; a lot of noise. If one likes to sleep with ones window or balcony door open; there are air-conditioner extractor fans to contend with; music and noise from the pool area; loud cars and motorbikes and late night shouting and even a street scuffle to contend with.
The distance factor is one to consider in that it is a bit away from all the action of the pier and the main beach.
And one possible unfair criticism but worth noting is the kitchen knife they provided could not slice warm butter it was so blunt.

To conclude the Coconut Cove is a simple, great and good place to stay for one or two nights, and an even better way to spend a week to ten days. Just bring some ear plugs and your own knife.

Tina and Mia are outstanding representatives of our property. They do a great job with our guest and always go above and beyond. I am glad that you chose our property for your accommodations while visiting Clearwater Beach. We are located on the south end of the island and about a 10 minute walk from the public beach and about a mile from Pier 60 which is the center of the island. I am sorry that the surrounding area was noisy during your stay and disrupted your sleep. I will definitely look into a better cutting knife and appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences about your stay. I hope that you come and stay with us in the future.

This was good for the price with clean rooms and a clean pool but there were a few things that were let downs. Not enough to complain to management about but examples are: the outside steps leading up to the rooms and walkway to rooms were are not swept. Cigarette butts and some bobby pins were there during the whole 3 days we were there. Some dark stains that looked like tobacco spit were going up the steps that you had to climb with your luggage and was a bit gross since we had a large rolling suitcase. Seems it would be easy to sweep this area daily but is not a priority for some reason? They also need larger trash cans in the kitchen area. A small bathroom size trash can was what we had in the kitchen and 1 leftover box filled it up. Our TV in the living room was missing a remote so we let the front desk know that it was gone so they wouldn't think we lost it. The remote from the bedroom worked though. Rooms were very clean and so was the pool area. They hotel offered bottled water by the pool. The pool was beautiful at night! The beach across the street is small and doesn't offer much room so we drove across the bridge down the road to a GREAT beach at Sand Key Park. The restaurant next door is yummy and so convenient.

Room Tip: Lowest room available so you don't have to climb the steps

We chose to stay here as it is close to the beach but has its own private pool. The accomodation is spacious and clean, with two double beds and a living area/kitchen. Staff were extremely helpful and we had free access to the internet in the reception area.

Our property is in close proximity to beach, however still secluded with the tropical themed pool area for your own little retreat away from the sometimes crowded beaches.

We do have the business center for our guest to use in the lobby area and I am glad that you were able to take advantage of that feature. We do also have the complimentary WIFI service throughout our entire property for our guest to use as well.

We are an All-Suite Property so all of our rooms are spacious with the separate bedroom with 2 Queen Beds or a King Bed, fully equipped kitchen, and separate living room area. I hope that you were able use all of the amenities provided in our suites while you stayed with us. It is always great to hear that the staff were “extremely helpful” during your stay and that you found us to be a “Great Location.”

We would love to have you back with us any time.

Myself and my boyfriend have just returned home after an 8 night stay at the Coconut Cove resort. We are so glad we chose to stay there and had a great time. The accommodation was so spacious, clean and quiet, consisting of a spacious lounge/kitchen area, bathroom, bedroom with two double beds and balcony. Our balcony overlooked the car park and the the pool, neither of which were noisy. There was music played at the pool all day but we found this to be atmospheric and not bothersome. The suite was perfectly clean and the cleaners changed towels and toiletries daily and bedding every three days. The suite had a fully functional kitchen and although we only used the fridge, i am sure we fould have cooked every night with no problems. The reception staff were very helpful and it was no problem to check in later in the evening. Coconut Cove is located a 10-15 minute walk (or quick drive)from the 'centre' of the resort. This was a nice walk along the beach. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearer though. There is also access to a small beach across the road or a 10 min walk to the main beach. We would definitely return to coconut cove!

It sounds like you were able to take in all that Clearwater Beach has to offer. Our property is ideal for extended stay travelers with the spacious appointed suites and fully equipped kitchens (even though you only used the fridge). We are ideally located near the main beach, shops and restaurants... For those that don't want to walk the 10 minutes to the main beach, we do have our sister property you discussed that has beach access just 2 buildings down. We are glad that you and your boyfriend were able to stay with us for such an extended time and let us know when you plan on returning, we would absolutely love to have you back as our guest.

We stayed at the Coconut Cove Suites for a week while vacationing in Clearwater beach. It's a great location and a nice resort. We choose to walk a bit farther up the side walk to the beach at Pier 60 vs. going to the location of their sister hotel ( quality inn). It's not a long walk about 15-20 mins, great way to get a little bit of exercise while looking at the beautiful view. If you prefer not to walk so much you can purchase a jolly trolley ride on this convient shuttle system.

The staff at the Coconut Cove are very nice, especially Tina at the front desk! The rooms are super clean and it is so nice to have a full kitchen- we cooked a lot at the room vs. eating out.
But if you do go out- try's the restaurant next door, Gondolier's they have amazing Greek food and pizza all reasonably priced and you get 10% off if you mention your staying here.

Love their little resort pool it is isolated just enough and have comfy lounging chairs. Couple of things that are not a big deal the cleaning staff mearly put new towels in your room and empty the garbage, they don't really clean or make the bed. They change your linens every 3 days to conserve water. Sometimes if you were in your room past noon they didn't come in at all. Again this wasn't a big deal for us since we like to keep things nice and tidy anyway, but we did find ourselves going to the front desk for things about everyday ( I.e. towels, soap, etc...) so it's more like a condo you rent and less like a hotel, if that makes sense.

Another little tip is if you plan to spend numerous days at the beach they charge $25 for 2 chairs and a umbrella, we went into one of the surf shops and bought our own for like $50 and used them everyday and sold them to other guests for $20 the last day. But FYI look on Craigslist before buying because some other people have the same great idea and you can already get a good deal on some stuff!

We had a great time here and hope to come back again!

It is great that you were able to stay with us for a week and from the sound of it take full advantage of our facility and enjoy a lot of what Clearwater Beach has to offer.

Our property is ideally located and within walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. It really is a gorgeous walk to Pier 60 and well worth it with their daily Sunset Festivals and on Saturdays they even have a movie that plays on a jumbo screen where you can bring a blanket and just relax with hundreds of other people on the beach and watch the movie under the stars.

I am thrilled that you were able to take full advantage of our kitchen. It is definitely a luxury to not have to go out to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner especially when you are vacationing for a week. I don’t know if you used our guest grill during your stay, but we do have that feature as well.

Gondolier is definitely amazing and all of our guests do receive a 10% discount when dining at their establishment and they also will do room service.

Our staff is exceptional and I am glad that Tina was able to make such an impression that you took the time acknowledge her specifically.

We do offer special weekly packages that give a significant savings for those travelers staying 7 or more nights, but with the savings comes a limited daily service of trash and towels and full service which includes linen change every 3rd day. So I am sorry if you did not book that package and ended up with the limited service during your stay.

Lounge Chairs and Umbrellas are for a fee at our sister property as well as the public beach and your craigslist idea is fantastic. To add to your tip, there are times that when guest leave here, they leave their beach chairs, beach toys, and other items as well for future guest to use.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and we would love to have you back!
