Having lived in the area for 45 years it is hard to be too kind to this park as it was donated by a family that had stipulated that the land (at that time many many times larger than the current area) be enjoyed by the people of Florida with no commercial enterprise ever to be allowed. After the first of many condos were started in the area a movement "Save Sand Key" was formed by local citizens who were "out spent by the corporations" and the construction continued eating up the majority of the donated land. The area remaining is OK and does have some beach front, a view of the Pass between Sand Key and Clearwater Beach and parking. It has no similarity to the rustic unspoiled area of years ago but there is plenty of paved parking.
