“Place of Choice in Clearwater”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2011

I have stayed here 12 times in teh last 2 years...Business mostly.

LOVE the full kitchen in room, so one does not have to "eat out" every meal..

Clean, good views, close to everything Clearwater has to offer.

From the time we walked in the front door we felt very welcome. The front desk was helpful, the bartenders and waitstaff were great! The room was nice but the staff really made our experience at the hotel wonderful. We did not want to leave.

After a relatively poor experience at a previous Hyatt hotel, I was questioning my Platinum status and loyalty to the brand. I took a risk and booked this hotel for a surprise getaway for my mother (along with a surprise concert she's been waiting a lifetime to see) and this place completed the perfect puzzle of a getaway that I was looking for.

Amazing staff (Jason C, the front desk manager, is top-notch - if you need anything, he will make sure that he tries to get it for you in a friendly and professional manner), amazing amenties, and the beach-facing corner suite we had was BREATHTAKING. You must get a Gulf/ocean-view room -- must! They are always running special offers so click "SPECIAL OFFERS" before booking your room and you won't be disappointed. The price is definitely worth it.

The valet service was unbelievably prompt (three minutes or less, no matter what time of day), whether it was 2PM or 2AM (trust me, I called for my car both times) and the guys were friendly and helpful, all of them. I cannot say enough nice things about everyone here, from the front desk manager and staff, to the valet, to the towel service by the pool. The daily performances by varying artists by the pool between 1-4PM is cool, and it was great to hear a new artist every day from my balcony right by the pool. A lot of the places I went to go see were in Tampa, but I'm glad I elected for the 30-minute drive out to the ocean - great memories that will never be forgotten thanks to the spectacular location and amazing staff. The beds were super-comfortable, too!

There were too small areas of concern: Housekeeping didn't clean our pots/pans and gave us no sponge/soap to clean them with, but the front desk employee working quickly sent someone up to bring us some. Room service was a bit slow: I had requested sugar and for some reason was transferred to room service. I just wanted sugar... and it took them over 45 minutes (no idea how long it actually took since it was just for my mother's coffee and we had to leave before it arrived), and then when we ordered room service (about $75 worth) and the promise was under 30 minutes, and it took closer to 40, which made us have to rush eating our food, which wasn't bad -- just a bit inconveniencing.

But those minor concerns were easily overlooked by the remainder of the awesome experience here. Look forward to my return visit.

Room Tip: 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th floor are closest to the music, so be prepared to enjoy music between 1-4PM...

What can I say? The hotel is lovely, from the elegant lobby (complete with free check-in champagne - every hotel should do this), to the restaurants and bars, and the clean, spacious rooms. The bathroom was huge and the room featured a full kitchen and a dining table. The food, from both the hotel catering department and the restaurant, was far superior to the usual hotel fare. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect. We would love to stay here again.

Room Tip: We were in the 24 line and our room faced both the pool and the beach. Lovely!

Our room 1414 certainly had the wow factor. It was amazing, and the view......stunning. It was beautiful sitting out on our balcony watching the sunset every night. Katie booked us in. A very pleasant and helpful girl. Always acknowledged us if she seen us again throughout the holiday. We stayed here 7 nights in November. The weather was lovely and warm, although the pool did get quite windy in the afternoons which meant it could be rather uncomfortable sitting out. Housekeeping was very prompt and efficient. Our room was always cleaned quite early in the morning. Everywhere in the hotel was spotless. It was a very busy hotel and had several weddings on when we were there, but the staff always greeted you at all times. The location is great too for beach lovers as its straight across the road. Would certainly stay here again. A most enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: we loved our south facing room to watch the sunset each night

10 nights in a one bedroom suite over thanksgiving. Pretty sure the only person who recognized us was the camp Hyatt coordinator even after 10 days. Rooms and beds are nice but nothing super special. Very nice tub and shower but that's all to note. Staying with 2 kids in the suite no one ever offered more blankets or pillows, there is only one for the pull out and no warm cover except the blanket on the king.

Pool is nice but doesn't get sun till late in the afternoon, probably ok I'm August but makes for a chilly area when 78 and windy. Pool seemed heated, and there is as we found out on day 6 a hot tub on level 16.

Location is great if you want to be at the main Clearwater beach drag but there are other options to consider at this price point.

Overall nice vacation

My friends, sister and I were at the Hyatt in the beginning of November from the 10th through the 13th. Our initial room was overlooking a building down the block that was under construction. Being night owls and the fact that we would be sleeping with the sliders open, we asked for a room on the other side of the hotel. Our request was accommodated immediately. We then moved into our very large, wonderfully clean room. It included a spacious kitchen area, appropriate for a hotel, and a large bath that was immaculate.

There is no nightlife to speak of at the Hyatt but we found ample places to dance and socialize in the surrounding area. Perhaps the best attribute of the visit was only moderately related to the hotel but when we went out on the first evening the doorman hailed a cab, Clearwater Cab,( not to be confused with Yellow Cab), whose driver ended up being one of our better experiences of the weekend. He was extremely professional, dressed in a suit, kept an impeccable car and he made himself available to us whenever we called, with enough notice - even for beachside delivery! It was a delight to get the service of a personal driver for a fraction of the price.

The hotel concierge, Gary, has a terrific personality and was extremely helpful. All of the staff were quite personable and helped make our stay memorable. Perhaps the only suggestion I could make would be to have some nightlife accessible at the hotel itself. But we never tired of visiting local places like Brown Boxer (the new one), Island Bay Grill, Shepard's, Ruth's Chris and Blue Martini.

We would definitely recommend the Hyatt and Clearwater Beach.
