“Goodbye, Old Friend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2006

Well, it is sad but true. The Sea Wake is going the way of all good things. Our family vacationed there several times in the past ten years and always enjoyed our stay. Clean, affordable and very kid friendly. Hurry up and take advantage of this wonderful, friendly place before it disappears in a cloud of very expensive dust. We'll always treasure our memories.

I stayed at the Best Western Sea Wake from 1/30/06 to 2/1/06. I had stayed here before about 7 years ago and really enjoyed my stay. This time I was not so fortunate. I had an oceanview/front room that smelled like animal urine. The hotel was not well-kept, I'm assuming because they are tearing it down and turning it into a condo this summer from what I've heard. I would recommend staying at the Marriott on Sand Kay or Hilton on Clearwater Beach vs. this hotel, if you can afford to spend a little extra money.

Unlike last reviewer I had no issues
Stayed few nights in February and had great beachfront room - Room 320 - nothing blocks you from seeing sinset up the bay.

Nice pool, sunning area and small beach (didn't see anyone swimming but did see a snorkler)

This Hotel is in nice quiet area at end of Island and
would definetly make this my place to stay if in Clearwater Baech area. Unfortunately it is is being demolished in July for a Condo building (condos starting at 1.3 million)

Nice reasonable Italian restauarant across the street and internet cafe behind some shops to right of hotel.
Did not try Hotel restuarant.

Common grounds were O.K., room was awful despite the view. STayed with my husband and children and we thought the room was dirty, beds/linens were also bad. Looks like the condo is starting soon but for the money wouldn't bother to stay there.

This hotel isn't up to Best Western standards, as a previous writer noted. We stayed in a second floor balcony room facing the Gulf. The patio door lock didn't work properly; the only way of locking it was via a funny latch on the door handle. When we got to the room, the fridge wasn't on, and couldn't be turned on either. It wasn't plugged in, and Maintenance had to be called to get it working. The bedside lamp wasn't plugged in; it was all a little odd. The room also was quite musty smelling. The property itself is quite nice - on the beach, beautiful view, fairly quiet. We wouldn't stay there again.

Stayed here for 4 nights in July 2005. Couldn't really fault the hotel. We had booked over the telephone and asked for a sea view which we were very pleased with. Room was spacious and very clean as was the rest of the hotel. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The pool area was good with sun loungers on a decked area which also led down to the beach area.
Wonderful views and especially enjoyed watching the dolphins swimming past early in the morning just as the fishing boats were setting off.
Sorry to hear it is to be knocked down, but if you get the chance to stay here do so, you could do a lot worse!

This hotel is located on the oceanfront at the very nice community of Clearwater Beach. All the rooms have great views. The room is large and clean. There are several restaurants and other retail establishments within walking distance. There is also an outside dining/bar area.

Definitely would stay here again.
