“Sea Wake not worth waking up in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2006

Common grounds were O.K., room was awful despite the view. STayed with my husband and children and we thought the room was dirty, beds/linens were also bad. Looks like the condo is starting soon but for the money wouldn't bother to stay there.

This hotel isn't up to Best Western standards, as a previous writer noted. We stayed in a second floor balcony room facing the Gulf. The patio door lock didn't work properly; the only way of locking it was via a funny latch on the door handle. When we got to the room, the fridge wasn't on, and couldn't be turned on either. It wasn't plugged in, and Maintenance had to be called to get it working. The bedside lamp wasn't plugged in; it was all a little odd. The room also was quite musty smelling. The property itself is quite nice - on the beach, beautiful view, fairly quiet. We wouldn't stay there again.

Stayed here for 4 nights in July 2005. Couldn't really fault the hotel. We had booked over the telephone and asked for a sea view which we were very pleased with. Room was spacious and very clean as was the rest of the hotel. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The pool area was good with sun loungers on a decked area which also led down to the beach area.
Wonderful views and especially enjoyed watching the dolphins swimming past early in the morning just as the fishing boats were setting off.
Sorry to hear it is to be knocked down, but if you get the chance to stay here do so, you could do a lot worse!

This hotel is located on the oceanfront at the very nice community of Clearwater Beach. All the rooms have great views. The room is large and clean. There are several restaurants and other retail establishments within walking distance. There is also an outside dining/bar area.

Definitely would stay here again.

Selected the hotel based on TA reviews, they were spot on. All staff were eager to please despite being sad that their wonderful little hotel is about to be knocked down. Standards do not suffer despite this looming threat, some time next year. If you are lucky enough to visit you must try for a gulf view room, preferably one at the end of the building (room 320) as you get a side view as well. Then you can sit and watch the sun sink over the gulf from your balcony and it rise again in the morning. If you are lucky you will get a visit from some of the local dolphins as well. Breakfasts are great value and taken in a wonderful setting. Beach small but perfectly formed and they are still tending and gardening despite the proposed redevelopment. Swimming pool small but great for small children. All round great value for money.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at the Best Western Clearwater Beach. We had not stayed there for a while, but it was veery nice. Right on the gulf! Very clean; our maid was exceptional. Hotel is everything it says. We are adults and on vacation, so yes elevators are slow, but did not care. Only had breakfast at the resturant but it was fine. Resonable rooms, friendly staff. Looking for warm weather and clean, comfortable place to stay... this is it.

my girlfriend and i just spent 2 weeks at this hotel and loved every minute.
we chose the sea wake because of the reviews on this site, although when we heard that it was closing soon we worried that the place wouldn't be well maintained. we shouldn't have bothered worrying.the room was nice and clean and the rest of the hotel was also well looked after.
the people who moaned about the speed of the lifts are having a laugh.alright their not rapid but come on its not a problem.
the position of this hotel is very good, well within walking distance to plenty of shops and restaurnts as well pier 60 and the marina.(the same can't be said of sheraton sand key)
the sea wake is certainly not a luxury hotel but for the price you really can't go wrong. its just a real shame that its soon to be knocked down.
