“Not Thrilled”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2010

This is a low to poor property. The room was non-smoking but there was no doubt they over look that restriction. We had to ask them to spray the room with freshener. The TV quality was very poor, we asked if they could do something to get better reception and the answer was "we don't even get TV in the breakfast area". So basically, no TV. The air conditioner in RM 120 has a fan bearing going. Every time it kicked on it sounded like the unit was going to come apart. Parking on the pool end of the hotel is fairly far from those rooms and it is isolated. Certainly didn't feel secure leaving my car there so parked it in a more public area of the hotel. I can see why Holiday Inn Express dropped this property from it's chain, this is in the lower segment as far as hotels go. Few choices of hotels in Chiefland but if I had it to do over again I'd check out the Best Western.

Last month a group of good folks we met several years ago invited us on an annual trip they take. Normally we take the bigger boats across the "BIG POND", this trip was a river trip. That meant dragging a trailer, dumping and loading, and work (something I no longer am two fond of). Sure am glad we deceided to go.
We were told by our friends the best place to stay was the "Days Inn Chiefland". Thank God for good friends. This place is in the middle of nowhere, but right were we needed to be and they called it right.
When we checked in (we were the first to show up), Jay, the General Manager, happened to be at the front desk. This was a real plus, as I like to know owners and thier management team where I spend my money. I am a firm believer in "leadership by example" and "It all starts at top and flows down".
This was evidenced throughout the entire stay. The staff was very helpful and courtious our entire extended weekend. I had read the comments on "tripadvisor.com" and saw two negative comments. Both were dispelled allmost immeadiatly. The lobby was quiet and clean, and the customers and staff all seemed happy. As I was finishing my check in, the rest of our group begin to arrive. (We had reserved a large block of rooms.) Soon the lobby was packed with everyone eager to get checked in and "start the festivaties". Pressure is a good time to watch the demeanor of the staff. I knew then we were in for a "good stay". They passed with flying colors.
The room was as well clean and in order, as well as roomey. The pool area was immacualate and inviting and I accepted the invatation immeadiatly. The location turned out to be suberb as there were several restaurants within walking (sight) distance, as well as a "wallys World" (and spirit store across the street from Wallys". The boat ramps (several) were a short haul, and we did not have to wait to launch or haul out.
The only thing we did not like is the pool is to close to the rooms. This means it closes early to ensure a quiet enviroment for all guests(10:00PM is early for this group). Fortuniatly, there is a large yard next to the boat parking (well lighted) with picnic tables under nice shade trees where we could enjoy our "GOOD NIGHT IRENE" drinks.

We will be doing this trip again, and guess where we will stay

Thank you Jay, and extend this thankyou to all your staff. It was a pleasure meeting you, and we will take up talking about those events and nice people we know in common from years gone by.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this nice, well-maintained hotel, after visiting another chain down the street, only to find old, smoky facilities. This place was IMACCULATE. Everything worked, the pool was spotless and well-maintained, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It's obviously a place they're proud of, with good reason. For the price, you absolutely can't beat it anywhere. If we are ever in the vicinity again, we will stay here. I would recommend it to my pickiest friends!

This is my second visit to this hotel. Both stays were great. The staff is extremely friendly and eager to please. Unfortunately, they recently changed affiliation from Holiday Inn Express to Days Inn. I generally associate Days Inn with cheap, plain, no frills accomodation and unfortunately that seems to be the direction that this location is headed. The breakfast selection was acceptable but not as good as it had been previously. Nothing major overall but the little extras ( just shampoo - no conditioner etc) seem to be missing. I am very disappointed...I just don't like the Days Inn brand at all. Regrettably, there are no better options in the immediate area.

We stayed here overnight on our way to the Florida Keys for a Spring Break vacation. We were flying in our small plane, and landed in (somewhat) nearby Cross City, FL. It was after hours at the airport, so we called this hotel because it was listed on the airport's information board. This area did not have taxi service, we discovered after we landed. When we called the hotel to inquire about a shuttle, the general manager said that there was no shuttle service, but he would come to get us in his own personal vehicle! And there the hospitality began! We were two four-person families, arriving after dark at about 8pm, and this gentleman drove all the way to the airport to get us. He brought us back to the hotel, and then called a local restaurant and asked them if they'd stay open a little late so we could get a meal. And how did we get to the restaurant? He loaned us his car! The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and offered a nice hot breakfast. But the best thing was the service; the general manager/owner made sure everything was just right, and we lacked for nothing. The next morning, we loaded back up in his car and his wife drove us back to the airport (about a 20 minute drive one-way, mind you.) I just can't say enough about the hospitality extended to us at this hotel.

Very clean hotel that's in good shape overall. Owners obviously are constantly working at keeping this 60's-ish hotel in good condition. Location on the main east-west highway makes it easy to find. Rooms are large, beds good but not great. Staff was probably the best and nicest that we found anywhere during our recent 3 week trip. They get a big thumbs up from us! They did it right.
