In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king!!! Thus the Island Hotel rates high when stacked against the seafront restaurants that make a mockery of good food in Cedar Key. The dining here is gracious and the service is actually service!!! Fine linens and a charming old high-ceiling dining room make up for the lack of sea views and the price, while a little higher than the run of the mill joints on dockside, is not greatly so. Well worth it for a well prepared meal and folks who actually care to wait on you. This is not the place for fried fish, but the food exhibits care and professional skills lacking elsewhere. Some limitations in that every entree comes with the same steamed rice and veggies. But take in the view along the dock and move slightly inland to the hotel for at least one good meal during your stay.
