We arrived on Saturday. Our room was nice. Annie the night manager was very friendly and made our stay memorable. Annie is new to Gulf Side and has been doing a lot to make the motel a better place to stay. I can't say the same for the day shift manager, Jackie. She was not very friendly.

We grilled steaks on the grill under the pavillion near the water and then we sat around a bon fire, compliments of Billy, (Annie's husband) until almost midnight.

On Sunday, Annie referred us to the museum and some other great places to visit while in Cedar Key.

I can hardly wait to return to Cedar Key and I will stay at the Gulfside again.

We arrived and picked up the key to the Thomas Guesthouse, which is a part of the Gulf Side Hotel. They charged us $300.00 per day, plus a pet fee and we had to pay by check in advance.

When we got into the house, the TV would not work. There was no internet, no stereo, not even a couch in the living room. The house was filthy and the pillows in the master bedroom smelled like other people and one even had grease or hair gel still on it.

The Gulf Side staff stated they were aware the satellite TVs were not working and had not been working for some time but the owner, who is a dentist in Tarpon Springs, would not fix the problem.

We left the next morning and the owner won't even return our phone calls to discuss the return of the pet fee or the unused days we paid in advance. No pets ever entered the house, as we told our children with their pets not to bother coming to Cedar Key to join us.

I have contacted the Cedar Key Chamber to file a complaint,

DON"T GO THERE!!!

I would also be careful about going to the dentist in Tarpon Springs. If he runs his practice like he runs the lodging business, it isn't safe.

Let me start with it's poor qualities, because it has no good ones:

TV/Cable Broken (no TV all weekend).
No closet to hang up cloths.
Blinds only-no curtains to block what the blinds did not.
No overhead lighting-just a night lamp (not enough to do anything by).
Paid extra for frig that was not in the room upon arrival (when delivered, it got put on a wabbly table meant for a suitcase because there was no outlet where it should have been put).
No ice.
No phone.
A bathroom so small and tight that you had to sit sideway's on the toilet to use it and had to step over it to get to the shower.
Room was not cleaned during our stay of three days.
There was a spider and a roach in the bathroom.
There was a dead fly on the ceiling.
We were given a partial credit because of the TV problem, but all it did was bring the rate down to what it normally is (they had it jacked up because it was the Seafood Festival).

Judy, the night time desk clerk did try to help with the TV problem, but the day time clerk did not have a friendly attitude. The whole expierence was very regretable.
