“Old Florida Charm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

A step back in time and absolutely charming. If you are looking for luxurious, go somewhere else. The cottage we stayed in was #4...a bedroom with kitchenette, bath and small porch overlooking the water. Comfortable bed and nice folks all the way around. We would stay there again.
Everything you need to relax and enjoy Cedar Key. The price was right and you get a discount if you pay in cash. The sunrise on this side of the highway is very good. You can walk to most anything...breakfast at Annie's or Kona Joe's....very good.

Room Tip: Ask the owner's about the different rooms...we wanted waterside and got it.

My husband and I visited September 2 - 5. What a nice visit it was. We had cabin 4 which seemed to be the most private. It had the best porch and view. The cabins are by no means fancy but they were clean and nice. Smelled wonderful when we walked in. Cute place and we will be back many times in the future!!

Room Tip: You want cabin 4 for a relaxing getaway for 2.

Had to leave my condo for a few days and decided to visit Cedar Key. I had an adorable cottage and great hosts. They are pet friendly. The owners were very nice and accommodating. Had a very pleasant visit.

Nice people and location and it comes with a cat. We stayed in the large cottage off the office. The owners mentioned adding a bathroom to that one in the future and that would help as the only bathroom is in the master bedroom. Billy the cat will gladly come in and visit if you let him. You might find it difficult if you have a boat but I loved the place and would return.

Loved Pirates Cove. The cottage was very reasonable, considering we had two full bedrooms to spread out in. Billy the cat hung out with us quite a bit, which helped to make us feel even more at home. We made use of their canoe, even though it was blazing hot. Lots of fun. We'll definitely return.

We really enjoyed a long quiet weekend at Pirates Cove, Cabin 6. It will remind you of those road trips long ago with mom and dad in the station wagon! The cabins are tastefully decorated, clean and quaint. Ours had an open deck attached. Perfect for our little dogs.
( although we brought a baby gate to go across the opening) Enjoyed the marsh/bayou views. Went for a spin in the canoe provided. Cooked one meal on the gas grill and they also have a charcoal one for the traditionalists. There is a nice open deck for everyone to use that has great sun and great views.
Cabin 6 has 2 rooms and 3 beds, one twin, and a double in one room and a queen in the other. Beds were a little soft, older mattress but clean. Small kitchenette, dated but functional. Gas stove, all equipped with dished, pans etc. Water takes a little while to get hot and has water saver shower heads, but not really an inconvenience. Wall AC units kept us nice and cool.
You can walk to town but its about 5/6 blocks, so drive if you're not a walker. If you want all the modern conveniences of the franchise hotels, This place is not for you. But then again neither is Cedar Key. The folks who operate the place are very accommodating! We will visit here again for sure!

Room Tip: Cabin 4 & 7 have screened in porches. Cabin 7 you have to go outside to get to it. Our deck was...

We stayed in cabin 6 for a couple of weeks in Feb 2012 and then in cabin 4 for the month of March 2012. Its neat, clean and quiet. Justin and Billy were truly very helpful and courteous. Yes, Billy the cat too !!!!! We have already made reservations for Feb/Mar 2013.

Room Tip: cottage 4 is wonderful for a 2 people. It has a screend in porch overlooking the bayou.
