“Enjoyable but know what to expect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2009

Okay, Cedar Key is a VERY small town, so don't go if your are expecting 24/7 entertainment. Nothing like Key West....not sure how anyone can compare the two! The water is not near as nice as Key West. Most everyone comes for the fishing, so if you are planning to fish you are in luck! You will have an awesome time. We stayed at the Fenimore Mill Condos. The parking is great! It's covered and right under your room. No long walks thru a parking lot. We had an awesome view!!! We stayed in unit 1A. We had 6 people and it was spacious enough. Good size kitchen with all utinsles included. Two bedroom 2 bath. The couch is a pull out that acutally wasn't bad compared to some out there. We stayed in June so it was freaking hot! I gotta say the air conditioner worked great! One downside is the condo needed updating badly. The decor was boring to look at and the couches are uncomterble! The patio furniture outside was dirty. The place seemed clean, but I don't think the sheets in the pull out had been washed in awhile....Gross! I don't know about the other rooms. The two T.V.'s are so freaking small and the one in the living room makes a annoying noise after awhile. But remember these condo's are individually owned so each one is different. Overall it was fun trip. I went with my family so we made our own fun. If you can rent a golf cart, but go early in the morning. They were sold out by 10am! There are only two places to rent them. They are way overpriced at $100 a day. Ummm hello!! They guy who owns the one close two the Finimore across from the park is a real winner! NOT! Go to Tony's Seafood. THE BEST! Try and make reservations. We did and saw people getting turned away later in the evening. Oh and one last thing.....the "beach" is nothing like other Florida beaches, so please if you are coming to Fl for the first time visit a real beach. The one in Cedar Key looks more like river. Remember this is a fishing town! But relaxing and enjoyable. Hope this review helps =)

The reservations were easy, each suite was different, fully furnished even the kitchen supplies were there, washer & dryer made it easy to keep everything clean. Very relaxing, view was terrific, beds were super comfortable with a down comforter, 3 bedrooms and a loft with three and 1/2 baths. One bath had a jacuzzi, walk in closet and double refrigerator for all of our food. I would highly recommend staying there for all sorts of occasions.

We came down to Cedar Key with a group of extended family, including 7 adults and a toddler. We are happy to report that we had a WONDERFUL time and will be back!! Old Fenimore Mill is just a block away from the public beach, playground and park, and 2 blocks from town. It was a great place to park the car for the week and meander thru town and explore. Walking, golf carts, or biking seem to be the main forms of transportation here. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance, such as Tony's Seafood (Great Clam Chowder- the Island's best!) the Island Room (where Jimmy Buffett is reported to have stayed), and the Seabreeze and Rusty Rim on the dock with great ocean views.
Cedar Key is definitely an oasis of quiet and relaxation, we slowed down to "Island Time" all week. No stop lights, no traffic, the biggest decisions were where to eat dinner and if we should take a nap.
There were bike rentals, kayak rentals, we took a sunset boat tour to nearby islands- very cool!!
The units we stayed in, 3D and 3E were decorated nicely, had interesting themes (Tequila Sunrise wall that faces sunrise!) and had plenty of room for all of us. Full kitchen, Living room and Dining room that seated 8-10. Lots of DVDs, Bose Stereo system to listen to lots of Buffett music. We loved the spa tub in the master suite, cathedral ceilings in the suite, and a loft with a game table. They also had toddler/baby stuff which made it easy for us to traval without bringing down lots of kid stuff- they had a crib, baby gate, swim toys for the pool, booster seat, stroller, etc.
We got fresh clams and had a blast one night- I think we ate 300 between all of us!

The balcony and views are the best thing about this hotel/condo. We sat and looked at the water for hours, and saw dolphins swim by a few days we were there. It is about 30 feet from the water and is so peaceful. 180 degree views of the gulf, some great bird watching and serenity.
We will definitely be back.

We just returned form Cedar Key and our stay at the Old Fenimore MIll Condo. We booked 4-B and even though the condos are older, our unit was very clean and comfortable, and the view from the porch was an everchanging delight. Bob manages the rentals with his wife and they could not have been nicer. Dinner at the Island House was good but not excellent as we expected. Cedar Key is a real find for anyone wanting just a quiet and safe place to relax and find time for yourself and you loved ones.

These 2BR-2BA condos are nicely designed. The LR-DA-K area is reasonably spacious with a good coastline view beyond the good sized deck. Our unit had a matching leather 3 seat sofa, 2 seat loveseat, and chair that were well positioned for conversation or watching the TV. BRs are separated by closet and bath, which enhances privacy and limits noise transmittal. Also a good value compared to two other 2BR-2BA condos (at same or 10% higher price) I looked at in Cedar Key.

Cedar Key is a wonderful place to spend a week or two. A very special place in terms of the natural surroundings and history. The Old Fenimore condos are centrally located near the downtown area. They offer nice amenities and spectacular views. Each condo has different furnishings, depending on the owner, but ours was well appointed. Recommend!

Each of these units are individually owned, but managed by a friendly and accomodating staff. The unit we were in had the most wonderful views and was so relaxing and homey that upon our check-out we reserved the same place for next year!
Where else can you see such an amazing assortment of wild-life? We say dolphins at play from the balcony, any kind of bird that lives on the coast and even a wild pig!
This might be the best place in Cedar Key to settle for a few days.
