The view is always good and the one person who complained about the crumbling pier at one end needs to spend time looking at the water, the dolphins that are usually playing, and the wealth of bird life. Now for the food: we've had some good meals here, we've had some mediocre ones. We've had good service, we've had lackluster service. This last one our food was very good, but the service was not. Our server was inexperienced, had to be reminded several times about requests, and just was not "with it." On the plus side, my mussels were tender and the broth they were cooked in was delicious. My husband's grouper was succulent and served nice and hot. The salad bar was pretty sad in so far as variety, but the ingredients were fresh and tasted good.
In summation: I sure miss my old Cedar Key favorite, The Captain's Table, that was located at the other end of the pier. Ah well! My advice to the owner/manager would be to invest some time in training wait staff. Also, when you have a good person in the kitchen, hold on to him or her! Good food helps me tolerate marginal servers.
