After moving to SW Florida in 2004, I've been searching for Pizza reminiscent of the New York Metropolitan area Pizzerias owned by Italian Immigrants. There have been a couple that migrated to SW Florida & survived, Bella Napoli & Lemoncello's, but it's not easy to start a business in this economy as evidenced by the empty storefronts at 2612 Santa Barbara Blvd. I have seen Rosie's advertised on TV & Radio & decided to give it a try. After reviewing their website weeks earlier my Wife & I decided to take a 30 mile ride to Rosie's on Monday where they advertised a BOGO Pizza Special. Upon arrival I noticed the Special Menu had changed. I asked the Manager, he replied, the price of Cheese had risen dramatically forcing him to scale down on some of the Specials & raise the Menu prices. I chose the 20" Supreme Pizza to go, priced at $25, asking if they will skimp on the Cheese. He replied No & I anxiously awaited my Pizza. About 5 minutes before done, the Manager asked me if I would accept the Pizza since it was not a perfect round, but more Oval than Round. It was nice of him to make that Offer but when you're hungry, you don't want another 20 minute wait. He should have offered a $5 refund instead, but I agreed to accept it. We drove to a Lakefront Park about a mile away getting a table overlooking the Lake. The Pizza was Excellent with the right amount of Quality Ingredients. The Sausage was real italian Sausage cooked right then sliced thin to embellish the Pie, They do not use the 5 lb cryovac bags of precooked over salted crumbled sausage & meatballs that the 'Conveyor Belt Pizza Joints" use. The excess Salt is used as a preservative. The Patrons of those Pizzerias had to be raised on School Cafeteria Pizza & don't have a Clue of what Good Pizza is. All of Rosie's ingredients were Fresh & of Sufficient Quality. Yes, it is worth the Price & the 30 mile drive. After the Pizza we took a Ride East on Pine Island Rd to Merchants Crossing Shopping Center at Rt 41 in Nort Fort Myers for one of the Largest Antique, Hot Rod, & Custom Car Cruises in SW. Florida.
