“Fresh is best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

Sat outside on the deck. It was comfortable even when the sun went down, thanks to the heaters. The lobster bisque was delicious and had nice chunks of lobster in it. Market price on the Atlantic cod fish and chips was $18 that night so I tried it. It was just okay, nothing special. Husband had a platter of sorts with 3 different types of seafood. The serving size was about twice what he could eat, making for a delicious lunch the next day.
John, our server, was great and extraordinarily polite, as are all of the Merricks folks we encountered. We would speculate that they have a very strong training program that works well.

“So Good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014

We went to Fish Tale for a light lunch and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed delicious, creamy but not heavy lobster bisque and their fantastic Spicy Lobster Roll - both were fresh and full of flavor. We dined inside and loved the beautiful and comfortable decor. Our waitress, Cora, provided excellent service! Our brief visit will definitely not be our last!

“Okay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

We had a late lunch and we were the only people on the outside patio. The food was good. Not great just good. Service was okay. Our waitress just took our order and gave us the bill. Not really into being friendly. Our first visit here and we will probably not go back because of this.

“BEST RESTAURANT IN CAPE CORAL!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

This restaurant deserves 10 stars if there were such a thing! This used to just be Merrick's Seafood Market. We always loved to get fresh fish, shellfish and ready to cook meals. Last year they added on Fish Tale Grill! We were expecting it to be good, but we NEVER expected it to be THIS FANTASTIC! There is an outside deck with beautiful lighting and wonderful fire propane heaters for these cold Florida nights! There is also inside seating with silver and blue furnishings and seating. They have huge booths that seat six as well as tables. One wall is all corrugated, shining metal. There is a digital blue fire on one wall. There is a bar with seating in one corner. We felt like we were in Manhattan in an episode of Sex and the City! Beautiful and CLASSY!!!! There was a bit of a wait, but that's because we came on a Saturday night, during high season. We only needed to wait about 20 minutes. We were greeted by Jill, who introduced herself as our server. Immediately we felt welcomed by her friendly demeanor! We can honestly say she was one of the nicest servers we have met since moving here to Cape Coral 4 years ago! She told us she only works on Saturdays, so we really lucked out. She was fast, extremely friendly, happy, and amazingly efficient!! The same thing can be said of the young man who assisted her, we did not get his name, but he was always there filling water glasses, and doing everything necessary to make sure we were happy and well taken care of. He was also extremely friendly! The menu is quite impressive. The food is, as you would expect, mostly seafood, there were some items of surf and turf, and steak and chicken. There were two specials that sounded wonderful, one was Walleye, which is something we are familiar with, coming from Wisconsin. We don't often see it down here in Florida. We opted to try the "salmon gravlax"(12.00) for an appetizer and the "grouper Picatta" (22.00). There were many things that interest us and we will be back to try those in the future. There were fresh oysters from different areas of the country AND the gulf, there was snow crab, king crab, lobster, everything anyone could possibly want, and all prepared in creative ways. They also have wine, beer, and even craft beer. Again, since we are from Wisconsin, beer is our thing. They had at least 5 different craft beers available, one of those was cigar city Jai Alai from Tampa! Heaven! Jill delivered a loaf of sourdough bread steaming from the oven, with a side of butter. Delicious! Then came our appetizer! We were in AWE! A rectangle platter of amazing. Four corners covered with fresh cured salmon shaved paper thin, small bowls filled with fresh capers, chopped red onion, tobiko caviar, diced boiled eggs, dill caper crème fraiche. and toast points! All these ingredients, when put together, were a delightful treat for the taste buds! So creative, so unusual and so delicious! We were working on finishing our appetizer when the first course of our entrée arrived. With all entrée's you get either soup or salad. We chose the seafood chowder. The chowder was served in a large coffee cup. This was not some canned clam chowder, NO! This was a creamy, thick chowder chock full of fresh fish, and shrimp! Delightful. Half way through our soup we knew we were in trouble. We knew we would be taking our main entrée home! When our entrée arrived, it was more than impressive! A large pan seared grouper filet with artichoke hearts and capers in a lemon butter sauce over a large scoop of red skin mashed potatoes and a huge helping of roasted zucchini, carrots, peppers and onions. We HAD to at least taste this It was glorious, and it will be glorious as a left over dinner as well! All thoughout dinner we were talking about how impressed we were with the food, the décor and the staff! This is, hands down the BEST RESTAURANT IN CAPE CORAL!!!!
