We went out New Years Eve to celebrate our friends 9th wedding anniversary and made reservations for 8pm at the Del Prado Steak House (our first visit). The waitress was new which is ok, everyone needs to learn. She was soft spoken and difficult to hear and seemed unsure of herself. I was very disappointed in the menu, although I think it was a special menu for New Years Eve. We had watered down soda's to drink. We ordered the chicken and our friends had the filet and the stroganoff. The food was mediocre, not very tasty. The waitress asked if we wanted more bread and we said we never received any bread but we would love some, she never brought any. When we went to pay for the bill with two $50 gift certificates the waitress came back and informed us that one of the certificates had expired 2 weeks prior. (It is a law since 2007 that it is illegal to have an expiration date on a gift certificate, Florida enacted Senate Bill 1638). She said she would give us $25 credit for the expired certificate but that was all she could do. We asked for the manager and the manager proceeded to inform us that we were in "her house" and this is the way it would be. She would not give us the $50. We informed her of the law and that we paid her $50 for the certificate and she was basically stealing $25 from us and she started causing a huge scene and said that we should leave "her house" immediately. She is yelling and screaming in her own restaurant causing a huge scene. While we were waiting for the bill to come back she came back to our table 3 times to start yelling at us again. What a horrible experience. I will never go back again and I will make sure that I tell all of our friends about our experience. Bad news travels fast. This is a very poorly run restaurant. What ever happened to customer service. I guess she doesn't believe in it!!!
