“Vacation Stay for the month of February”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We rented a room at Casa Loma for the month of February...enjoyed the nice weather...staff was helpful and friendly..although it's an older motel...it was quite clean....it's a very quiet place and waterfront view is very enjoyable. Recommendation:...try and install towel bars in the kitchen as we have no place to dry the dishcloth and towels....upgrade your shower head as ours was about to fall off from the wall.....

Room Tip: It's worth paying the extra for waterfront view..otherwise the rooms are beside a highway with l...

if you ever wanted to know what it was like to live at the highway, stay here. you open the window in about 4ft away you have a highway, the advantage of Bering that close to a highway is that you don't have tI open the window to here it. the so called "waterfront" is available but it seems for family members only. there is no chance to get one of these rooms. the pool is nice, but you really need to be a true sun lover as there is 0 shadow at all. the kitchen that's in the room is a joke, only 1/4 of the ofen is working, everything that is in the kitchen is dirty. lucky us Walmart had cheap offer of everything we needed. tv is workig, but only about 10 channels are available. also you should be aware that there are no elevators in this hotel, so ether be strong or only bring thins you only really need to survive ;) - which you might need to live here any way ;) I am attaching a picture of how your feed would look like if you walk on the floor without shoes (for only 10 minutes)

My wife and I spent four days at the Casa Loma, using it as a "Home Base" while we toured the area. We only needed a fairly decent, economically priced place to spend our nights and this motel fit our needs. On the upside, the common grounds along the channel and pool were very well cared for and provided a fairly nice place to relax. The room, however, was dated, the floors and carpeting were dirty, and because it's on a busy street you can expect a lot of road noise if you are sitting outside or if your room faces the street. Could be a really nice place if they decide to make improvements to the rooms.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the channel. They offer a better view and are quieter

We stayed in a double waterfront efficiency room this weekend. The view from our balcony was lovely of the canal and the pool deck. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the grounds were impeccable. Also, we did not hear any noises through the walls like in some more cheaply constructed buildings. Our room was equipped with a stove top, microwave, fridge, dishes and coffee carafe/coffee. The room decor, television set and bathroom facilities could all use an update, as they are quite outdated--but that is the only negative thing we can say. Free Parking, Free WiFi. And the toiletry products were very high quality! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Definitely pay the upgrade for waterfront--well worth it

This is not the most up to date hotel, but it has good service and is a good value. The rooms are efficiencies, which is very helpful; a stove and oven go a long way to creating comfort in multiple night stays. The room did not have a microwave, but the hotel web site advertises that they are provided upon request. The kitchen accomodations were adequate without the microwave. The room was clean, rather spacious, very affordable. It is an older hotel, with very basic appliances and furnishings, but if you are looking for a clean, cheap room, this hotel meets the requirements.

The staff was excellent. Check-in time is 3 p.m., but I called early that morning and asked if we could check in early. We were allowed to check in at 9 a.m., which was immensely helpful to us and beyond generous. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. In my view, excellent service is more valuable than the most up to date furnishings.

Room Tip: If noise bothers you, ask for a room on the canal side. The street can get pretty noisy and there is...

Large room (at least the one I was in) but it is definitely 80's style. Horrible TV reception with fuzzy picture on most channels. Light fixture over the bed did not work. It was because of the outlet. Was able to redo some other plugs to get it to work. I HATE motel rooms that do not have a sleep button on the remote. This one did not. Seemed like an average room for an above average price. But this is warm Florida in the middle of winter.

Hello Mysei,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback on your recent stay at the Casa Loma Motel. Our property is an older property although it is clean and comfortable; some have even said this adds to the charm of the place. We are sorry to hear that you encountered a few problems while staying here though. I would like to mention to you that we have a full-time maintenance man whom is here to assist our guests with any maintenance issues that may arise. In your case, he would have been able to replace the broken outlet and make the light above the bed work for you; he also could’ve found a solution to the TV set. As far as the sleep button on the remote, I do apologize as none of our remotes offer that function. However, we are in hopes of upgrading all of our TV sets as soon as the economy turns around for us.

In the end, it sounds like you made do and were still able to enjoy some warm Florida sunshine in January. We hope that you will consider our property again if you are in the area.

Warmest Regards,
Heather Hall
