We have had our eye on this place for some time now, and finally tried it for lunch. Small, casual, bright place, half tables where one can have a meal or a cup of coffee, half counter and display case filled with baked goods that look delectable. Extensive menu includes various quiches, savory and sweet crèpes (French-style buckwheat crèpes folded into a square on the plate), interesting sandwiches, paninis, pasta dishes, salads. There's always a special of the day, beef in wine sauce the day we were there. Although there's an interesting collection of wines in a prominently-displayed rack a limited selection of wine is sold only by the glass as of now.
My husband had the quiche Lorraine, served with a side of salad and, oddly, potato chips. The presentation was attractive, but the quiche could have been more flavorful; he thought it was heavy on the egg-white (ie. "too healthy"). I had the chicken cordon-bleu crèpe, which was delicious but barely warm when served; I should have asked to have it heated up, but I was afraid of what the microwave would do to it. Although very tasty this was overpriced at $12 (but one of the more expensive items on the menu I should add).
We will definitely go back and try some of the other appealing-sounding dishes, steering clear perhaps of the quiche and the more expensive crèpes. This is a different kind of place to eat, and deserves to be encouraged!
