First things first, I have not one complaint about this resort, I have NEVER encountered a staff as welcoming as the staff at The Resort at MarinaVillage! From the moment we arrived (later than expected as we did miss a turn and get lost) we were greeted with genuine smiles and extremely accommodating service throughout the entire resort. We had a studio room with a screened balcony overlooking the preserve, it was very peaceful and served us perfectly. We did eat in the lounge one night, the Nauti Mermaid, ordered the HH champagne special (very nice) with several appetizers all of which were very good and service was excellent. We used the pool and hot tub on a few evenings and had it to ourselves. Plenty of towels available by the pool. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to be near both Sanibel and Pine Island, 20-30 minutes to each, very easy to get to both. I could go on and on but all I need to say is go! We thoroughly enjoyed the time we stayed and hope to return before Westin (yes, the rumors are true) takes over. Our best to all the staff and thanks again for a wonderful time there.

We have just returned from a 3 week vacation to south Florida. We stayed at Marina Village for 5 nights in a 2 bed Sanibel view again. Totally loved it as before. Spent lots of time on balcony watching the world go by, my favourite bit. We tried Fort Myers again but as before really didn't like it, we stayed 10 mins and then moved on. Absolutely love Sanibel. Bowman's beach was beautiful as was Lovers Key. I definitely will visit again in the future!

A two bedroom deluxe room.
1) Great room / nice furnishings / superb view / very clean
2) Restaurant / Bars / inside and out all excellent.
3) Hotel staff, very professional and friendly
4) LOCATION...As a base to explore the area we were not impressed. The property is so far out on a limb it takes an age to get any where. Also Cape Coral is a long way off becoming a holiday resort as everything is so spread out. Sanibel and Fort Myers are a much better bet if you want to take something else out of your stay other than very comfortable surroundings on site.

My boyfriend and parents checked in the resort on a Friday morning. We booked a two bedroom deluxe room. The rooms are more like apartments than a hotel. We got to our room on the 16th floor!!! I am scared of heights but WOW what a view! It was breath taking. View of the ocean and islands off in a distance and directly below us was the pool. We ended up asking for a lower floor because I was scared to go out on the balcony. Luckily it was huge and screened in, but I wasn't going to be comfortable. The girls at the desk couldn't have been nicer. They switched our room to the 6th floor! Perfect. Same view same room layout. Everything was perfect. The food however was horrible. We tried eating at all of the on site restaurants and they were all awful. We looked past it considering how wonderful everything else was. One thing I was very unhappy about was that they allow non guests to use the pool and occupy chairs. This is unfair. We went on a very busy weekend, and both days going to the pool we were unable to get a chair because the pool was packed with locals. One local even yelled at me for saving a chair for my mom, she told me "I come here every weekend and the rule is no chair hoarding" I was pretty upset and the hotel employees did nothing about it. Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a little get away !!!
