While visiting Cape Canaveral this summer, we purchased $40 worth of gift certificates for my step-dad, who lives part time in Cocoa Beach from Thai-Thai III, because we liked the food and thought it would be an easy gift to ship to him for his birthday since we live overseas. (We had done this at the restaurant, Daniel's, which previously occupied the space.) When we got out the certificates in November, we realized that there was a 90 day expiration date. Since we've never heard of gift certificates that expired in 90 days we still sent them to him, thinking that they would make an exception, given the fact that we live overseas. Sure enough, when my mom and step dad tried to use them four months after they were purchased they flatly refused. No exceptions! Needless to say, they walked out without eating and won't return. Neither will we. So, they were able to pocket the $40, giving nothing in return.
