Not sure where to start.... beautiful beach for sure. Really big pool, not a "waterpark". Although your kids will have fun for a while. Rooms are really big because it is a time share. THe hotel is bright and "Caribe" like. THe pool bar staff is as slow as molassis and drinks are what you would expect from a tourist spot. THey do have an overflow lot if you wanna bring your boat. I think it is a good spot if you are looking for a place with young kids. A couples retreat no way. As far as room selection, the rooms that face the pool get pelted with noise from the loud hailer at the pool from announcements. THey call it a LOUD HAILER for a reason. We will probably go back, mostly for the kids and no more than 2 nights. If you are from Canada or up north you will think it is fine since you can hit Disney, the Cape, the beach etc and be self contained.

Room Tip: The beach building is more quiet than the pool rooms

The resort was lovely, we had a 1 bd unit, huuuuge place, big kitchen w/d IN THE ROOM!!! balcony overlooked canal where the cruise ships come in. Kids loved indoor play area, pools, slide, lazy river, MOVIE THEATER showing decent movies. It was great, they have a restaurant but we didn't eat there.

Very relaxing easy vacation, beach is a short tram ride away. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room over looking the beach next time. Definitely stay in the main house the other...

We planned a family vacation at Ron Jon, we paid $287.00 per night for our room, we rented 2rooms for 2 nights. While there they closed the slides/pools down for lightning at 7p & didn't re-open, except the spa at 10p for an hour, which is fine but there wasn't any lightning. They said they couldn't re-open the pool because a child had pooped in it & they had to clean it. The pool never re-opened until the next morning, for an hour, then they re-closed it because they found more poop and couldn't say when the pool would re-open. We complained to the desk & management but they didnt care & said there's nothing they can do. We asked why it is taking so long to clean, they said they had to send their staff home to sleep, we explained we paid good money for the rooms & amenities, they said there's nothing they could do. I have been to many resorts before, had pool closed due to poop & they seemed to make it a priority, cleaned & re-opened in 2-3 hours. RonJon has guaranteed money b/c people are locked into their timeshare, they don't have to compete for business, so they do not put the extra care into customer satisfaction! Very disappointed with service & will never go back to this resort!!!

I have not visited Ron Jon this year. However, I have visited every year in the prior four years. Every time I visit, I say I won’t be back again! The resort is beautiful and does have a lot to offer for children but not for seniors! The main reason we’re unhappy with the resort is that there is little or no enforcement of the rules where people and children run amok! It is the worst of any timeshare we have stayed at!

They do not enforce the “no smoking policy”! The last time we stayed there was in a studio and smoke came in our unit from the doors between the units. We called the front desk and they informed us that their smoking policy is “voluntary”. “Voluntary” just means NO POLICY! They offered to move us which we were not willing to do since it was late and we were already settled. The maintenance man they sent just stuffed towels around the door and sprayed room deodorizer. Needless to say we couldn’t wait to leave the next day!

Children are unsupervised and run up and down the halls late at night making a loud ruckus! The hot tub is overrun with toddlers and small children even though the rules say that you need to be 12 years old and supervised by an adult!

They don’t police the pool area and it is easy to get into without staying there. I’ve seen plenty of people using the facilities without their arm band!

The other objectionable thing is they “bug” you big time to sit through one of their presentations or updates even when you keep telling them “NO THANK YOU”!

I could go on and on! Needless to say, decent people who are mannerly and follow the rules don’t want to stay there. Why would you if you could stay at a Wyndham Resort! This just leaves more availability for the riff-raff of society who are drawn to places where anything goes!

We are owners at Ron Jon and believe me the maintenance fees are very, very high! It disgusts me to stay in a unit with cigarette burns on the counters and furniture, knowing that because of their lack of management the units are deteriorating and I’ll have to have to pay to repair or replace the damaged items. We’re sorry we ever purchased there. It’s a shame that a beautiful resort has been ruined by such sloppy management practices!

Since we are a family resort, we do have a greater number of children staying during school breaks. It is unfortunate that guests do not always supervise their children properly however, we do attempt to enforce rules to ensure the enjoyment of the resort for all of our owners and guests. We would recommend that you reserve your week during the school year, when the number of families staying here is at a minimum. If this is not possible, our Club & Owner Services Representatives are available to discuss additional options available to you.

With regard to your comments about smoking in the units; beginning January 1st of this year, all units are non-smoking. This rule was put in place at our owners’ request and was announced in our first newsletter of the year.

We appreciate you taking the time to review the resort and hope that if you decide to stay again, you enjoy your visit.

We checked in for what was to be a nice week at the beach and were greeted cordially and given directions to our room. We had booked the best room offered and the person who checked us in raved about the wonderful views from our balcony of the cruise ships and the water. We were delighted!

That was the end of the delusion. Our room had views of nothing but trees and the parking lot. Perhaps one could climb out on the roof and get a glimpse but even that would be a stretch.

Room was clean, dated and average. Not what we expected from photos.

Beds were a rock and pillows no better.

The icing on the cake were the kids who decided to ride trikes outside of our bedroom window, shrieking at the top of their lungs at 10pm while their parents partied nearby, not caring at all about anyone else.

Location was amid gas storage containers near the port.

Beach not nice at all and we live in this area.

We checked out after 8 hours and went home to better beds, much nicer views and no screaming kids everywhere.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

We stayed over the weekend (Friday and Saturday). We had 2 two bedroom rooms. They were spacious and very comfortable. The pool was not as large as in the picture and was CLOSED all the time (lightening 50 miles away or POOP in the pool). In the 48 hours we stayed the pool CLOSED 4 times. Saturday night it closed the entire night. No out side activities (lightening 50 miles away). Pretty expensive stay to just stay in your rooms. NO TO HAPPY WITH THIS PLACE. Not on the beach like the pictures show!!!!

We apologize that you were not able to experience all of the wonderful amenities the Resort has to offer due to unforeseen circumstances. Guest safety is our main concern and to that end, we do close the pool if lightning is in the area. In addition, per state laws, we are required to close the pool for a certain number of hours while it is being treated for accidents that may occur. Again, we apologize that you did not enjoy your stay due to circumstances beyond our control.

Overall, this was a good little vacation. My boyfriend and I (in our mid 20's) stayed for 3 nights with his family (ranging in ages from less than a year old to 40 somethings :) We have stayed at nicer resorts, but I don't know how this compares price-wise because his family kindly paid for our room. The places we normally stay at are a little over 300 a night and nicer, but maybe this place was a little cheaper? We stayed in a regular studio room with 1 bed and no balcony.

Pros: Great pool area, poolside bar & food, live entertainment (although I use that term loosely lol) mini golf, arcade, movie theater, water slide, big hot tub, etc. The lazy river was nice to float around in too. We left the resort to go to the beach and for dinner, but besides that we didn't leave the entire 4 days we were there and had more than enough to do to keep us occupied. My bf's 8 year old sister was with us and she had a great time so I bet most kids will love the place as well. There was indoor and outdoor play areas for kids and a kiddie pool too. They were also accomodating to his baby niece.

Cons: No pool towels in the room (we were told there should be in the room by the front desk, but there wasn't, then we went to get some and were given little tiny towels that I don't think were pool towels), no extra toilet paper in the room (we called to see if we could have some delievered but they said we had to come pick it up at the front desk, so basically if you need something don't expect them to bring it to you), they don't clean your room or make your bed during your stay, no breakfast available on site besides some coffee and muffins on a cart in the lobby (not an option for me since I'm vegan), no room service available at any time, you have to take either a decent walk or a tram ride in order to get to the beach, and for some reason they have you wear an annoying wrist band during your entire stay.

All in all, I'd say this was a good value if the room was in the $150-200 per night range. If it was any more than that you can find a nicer place for your money, but it was a good time. It's definitely a place for a family vacation rather than a romantic getaway. We all had a great trip :)
