I took my wife and younger daughter to Yokohama's on Mother's Day weekend, where we met up with my older daughter and her husband, for a wonderful 2 hour celebration. We have been coming to Yokohama's for special dinners and night outs for several years now. We still feel like it's a "hidden gem" of Brandon FL as we were able to walk in at 6pm on a Saturday night and be immediately seated.
We started with a bottle of chardonnay and some appetizers. We ordered one their daily specials, Tempura Portabello Mushrooms. We also ordered several different sushi to share: eel, red dragon, and volcano. All were fabulous. After a small dish of slightly pickled cucumber, followed by soup (miso or chicken broth) and salad, it was on to the main course.
We ordered Negimaki (scallions & cheese wrapped in beef), Sukiyaki (beef brisket in soy sauce), and Vegetable Tempura. I don't even want to try to tell you what was the best, because they were all delicious and cooked perfectly.
As another reviewer wrote, they remember you by name, and they greet you and treat you like family. The night we went was probably the busiest I've ever seen them. We arrived at 6pm and finally pulled ourselves away around 8:15pm. One of main reasons we like to go to Yokohama's is that it is quiet enough that you can carry on a conversation with the rest of your party.
