“SIlver surf for a night.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

My wife and I were spending the day at Anna Maria Island and decided to look into a place to stay the night. We stopped at a few places in the area. I checked Trip Advisor of course.. This had ok Reviews and it looked nice. So we stopped and asked price Etc.. So we booked it. This is a very clean place. It is a very nice place. During our booking we metioned that it was our anniversary and Angie the desk mgr snuck and got someone to place a anniversary package into the room.. So when we got into the room it had rose pedals on the bed and battery powered candles lit.. That was above and beyond customer service! It was in a perfect location for us since we only stayed the one night. It has its own beach access. With a private beach. We walked to the kokonut hut for Pre-Dinner Drinks and then walked a bit Farther and went to the Beachouse for Dinner! I highly recommend both. But back to the Silver surf. I am not sure i could stay a full week here? I think if i was staying a week i would pay up a bit and stay Directly on the beach in a beach house Or a place that had bigger rooms...For a quick 1 to 2 night stay it would be ok. We did not use the pool. It was a bit small and a bit crowded/Kids and such so we just didnt use it. It looked ok for the size of the hotel. Overall it was comfortable and ok. The bathroom was a bit small i am 6'4" and standing in the tub/shower my head comes real close to the ceiling. Next door had a couple kids that iked to hang out on the balcony and were a bit loud fo a hotel. But that is to be expected anymore..One thing we thought was odd was we went to check out in the morning. 8:45am and there were no office personel in there. Only a Cleaning lady and we pecked on the door and the Donut lady pulled up and i said i wanted to just check out and give the office my keys..they both looked at us funny and said that the office doesnt open till 9am! They were a bit harsh and basicly took our keys and said they couldnt get us a receipt! Even though we didnt ask for one?
Overall I would stay here again but only for a night or 2.

Room Tip: If you book Early ask for one of the Ground floor rooms. You wouldnt have anyone above you or below...

Great location right across the street from a great gulf beach. Chairs, umbrellas, and towels provided, and courteous employees on the beach set you up where you want to cop a squat. Jetski's, Hobicats, and paddleboards for rent. All that the area has to offer is close by, and you can just catch the free tram right out front if you wish. Funky, comfortable room and good service (they even do the dishes!). Infrared gas grills out front... I really enjoyed showing off my brats/italians/onions and peppers while enjoying the gulf ambiance, and a nice glass of Chardonnay.
Will definitely be returning again sometime.

Hotel was average... small frig, small microwave, couch and king size bed with nice linens. Elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floor, but small\narrow door.

Private beach is across the street. Private beach.. so certain beverages are permitted if you catch my drift. Only if you responsible with yourself of course. They have rentals like jet skis and paddleboards. The water is shallow for a ways out so its good for kids. The pool was very warm... uncomfortably warm. Ice is $.25 for a bucket full.

They use real keys and ours did not work multiple times. They have real wood doors and in the rain the door swells and its really hard to get the key lined up just right I guess. Pretty annoying at 11 pm... Someone came to help within about 10 minutes though.

stayed for a long weekend. Nice location, across the street from beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach for guests to use.. a VERY nice service! Beach towels were also provided.
Room was clean, air conditioning worked well. Grab and go breakfast was nice touch (limited variety.. frozen pastries, bread or bagels for toasting, fruit, juice, coffee) but definitely a nice convenience!

I stumbled across the Silver Surf via Groupon. We stayed 4 nights, and I could not have been happier with the accommodations, especially for the price! Keep in mind, there are no high-rise, chain hotels on Anna Maria Island. It is a very quaint, mostly residential island. Silver Surf is an old-school motel with 100% modern day updates and renovations. It is so clean, the staff is so friendly and helpful, and the private beach is so beautiful. Chairs and beach towels are provided (as many as you need), the kitchenette is clean and functional, a/c works great. And, they take their family-friendly policy very seriously. I would definitely consider staying here on my next trip to AMI! Thanks, Silver Surf, for a terrific vacation!

Room Tip: Call the resort to ask about the differences in room types. The website doesn't do a very good...

We stayed here for 3 days. It was a perfect location with a private beach across the narrow island street . We had free use of umbrellas and chairs. It was great not toting our own along or paying to rent them. We thought it was going to be noisy here. There we children running around everywhere. Once we went to our room and shut the door, the noise was gone. It was great! We would stay here again.
