“Perfectly Managed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014 via mobile

Manager Angela Rodecker is a class act. I have never met a more passionate & caring person. Just as Bridgewalk resort is run so smoothly silver surf is a great family oriented destination. The staff here is not only friendly and informative, they make you feel at home. Props to Ms. Angela as well as her entire staff of desk & maintenance personnel for a great ongoing experience!

The Silver Surf Gulf Beach Resort is one of those places that is tough to describe. It's great, except it isn't. I'll throw out the pros and cons in an easy list for you to follow and decide for yourself.

-excellent beach. Despite the rooms not being oceanfront, once you walk yourself across the street, the beach here is excellent. It is semi-private. I visited in early/mid July and was impressed at how little beach traffic there was. The white sands give way to clear, warm waters with very little waves. It's calm and relaxing. You won't have a hard time finding a good spot to sit at all.

- comfortable beds

-service was friendly and fine

-not oceanfront. I didn't really realize this until I got here, but this is not an oceanfront property. It's darn close. Just a short walk across a two lane street and you're on the beach, but for the price of the rooms, I was a bit disappointed at this.

-pool area. This is a pretty small pool. It was comfortable to swim when nobody was here, but without a hot tub, this pool was just okay. The pool area can get a bit noisy but it settles down around 10 PM.

-breakfast. If you can get away with a yogurt and a hard boiled egg, then fine, but this breakfast makes a holiday inn continental breakfast look like fine dining. Limited selected bread and frozen pastries, bad coffee, juice, fruit, hard boiled eggs, and yogurt is all you'll find here. Do yourself a favor and go to Peaches a few minutes away for a real breakfast.

-rooms. Not sure what to think about the rooms. The beds are comfortable. Tv is fine. No carpets. Most of the storage/dresser/closet space is simply white shelving that looks like it came from ikea. There are no real countertops here (even in the bathroom and kitchen areas). Bathrooms are small but clean. Bar soap is the only thing you're given here. In the shower, there is a shampoo dispenser that looks like a soap dispenser you find in a public restroom. The bathroom sink isn't even located in the bathroom. It's part of the white ikea shelving outside. Overall I'm not impressed with the bathroom and kitchen areas. But they were clean.

-ice is not free

So, my instinct is to tell you that the rooms are just okay. But don't get me wrong, it's clean and restful. Just not cozy and luxurious. And it's not oceanfront. But the beach almost makes up for this. It's an awesome beach to relax at.

Personally, I'm not happy spending $180/night for this place. I luckily found a sale on Priceline for this room at $130. For a bad breakfast and small bathroom, I'm not sure how they can get away with charging so much. If this place were closer to $120/night then I would have a much more positive outlook of the place. But I think I'll be looking elsewhere the next time I'm at Bradenton beach.

At first glance at checking in, hotel appeared newly renovated, clean, and simple. Upon check-in, we were presented with a long list of rules and procedures that we needed to initial to confirm our understanding. We thought this was odd, as we have travelled and stayed at many hotels and have never experienced quite this lengthy and type of check-in procedure. One of the main rules included no noise on outside premises after 10 PM. That sounded great to us as we are early risers and usually retire around 10. We also noted a sign at the entrance of the property advising guests that the property is Sheriff patrolled in the evening. I guess that should have set off a though pattern about potential noise problems.

All went well until 10 PM. The pool was cleared of the more than 40 adults and children. MANY of the children were (staying ?) or at least were placed in the room next to us. The adults chose to party out in the parking lot in front of our building, tailgating out of two larger vehicles.
This went on to almost midnight despite two phone calls to the hotel's night-time number provided to us. One of those calls was actually answered, the other ignored. I was told that there is a Sheriffs detail on the property. Yes, there was. The only problem is that Sheriff working appeared to know these people, participated in the noise making and did nothing to discourage the noise or encourage the group to move to the private beach across the street as we were instructed to do if we desired to continue our party after 10PM.

At this point, we decided to pack up and leave. As we were leaving, the group moved to the front of the property where there is a paved picnic area with the Sheriff still participating in the group's loud behavior. I am certain that this was now disturbing to a new group of room occupants. As for the many children in the room next door, they ran in and out of the room yelling down to the asdults until approximately 11:30. Not sure where they ended up. Silver Surf Resort has the potential to be a quaint and restful beach getaway providing they get this problem under control. I do not feel it was worth the $180 (Florida Resident Discount Rate) as we were forced to drive back home that evening.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and I truly apologize for your unique experience on our property. We make every effort to prevent all issues whether it is the maintenance and cleanliness of our property or our effort to minimize issues in the evening. We do in fact have "Family Friendly Conduct" that we ask our guests to agree to when they arrive. It is not a reactive procedure that we have put in place as much as a proactive approach to minimize issues, express the type of place that we want our guests to experience as well as to empower guests staying with us to notify us when situations do arise. Part of our proactive approach is to have off duty officers on our property during peak occupancy. The use of off duty officers has been very effective in maintaining the environment that so many have positively commented on prior to this posting. I am very confident that this situation is an exception and do hope those reading this will take all of our reviews in to consideration.

We stayed here and didn't want to leave! We stumbled upon it at the last minute , while looking for something on the beach. This was perfect. It's right across from the beach but you have your own huge private access to the beach right across the street so no one bothers you. I will definetely book here from now on!

My hubby and I decided to visit Anna Maria island on the spur of the moment and didn't make reservations in advance. Called the Chamber on the way and they gave me this location to call. Called and Lucy was covering the front desk. Her customer service won me over and all staff we encountered was great. Room was very nice - a little pricey but typical for the area. Very nice beach and good breakfast.

We lucked into finding this spot when the place we had reserved turned out not to be what we expected. Clean, quiet, nice pool and lovely beach access, our son lives here so we will definitely be back!
