“Good Price, pleasant stay ;o)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

My best friend and I stayed here for 3 nights on July/2012. We arrived around 6:30 pm and the front desk was closed, but there was a phone where you call and get a code to open a box where your welcome pack is, so check-in was done quickly. We got a room on the 2nd floor, and right underneath was the parking space for our vehicle. When we first opened the room door, a whiff of fresh clean scent welcomed us to enter a spotless, white fragrant sheets with four pillows, clean coverlet and another sheet and fluffy blanket in one of the drawers. The kitchen had a small fridge, a microwave, coffee maker, toaster and cabinets with a set for four dinnerware, silverware and even dishwasher liquid. A dinning table with four chairs and a queen size sofa bed. Bathroom was neat with plenty of towels, tissue paper and a hair dryer. Plenty of hot water and pressure. A small rod with hangers to hang your clothes. The bed was very comfortable with its new king size mattress. It was obvious that the room was recently upgraded with ceramic floors, new ac unit and fresh paint. A 36 in. lcd tv with local channels. We loved the fact that we could walk to the beach and had free chairs and umbrellas for quests, and even beach towels are provided at the front desk. There is a Spa Massage by the front desk where you can schedule a massage right there in the room or at the beach in a Tiki ;o)~ You can also rent wave runners, surfboards & sailboats right there at the beach. Right at the parking lot of the hotel, you can rent bicycles and scooters. There is a trolly stop right outside the hotel and it is a free service throughout the island. Very good dinning in the Island, but only two or three close around 9 pm, but you can always go to the shopping area in Brandenton (5min) where you can find Golden Corral, Applebees, Fishbones and other sea food restaurants. There is also Walmart Supercenter (24/7) You should try eating at Moore's Stone Crab Rest right in Longboat Key in the Island... really good prices and the food was delicious ;o)~ Very pleased with the staff at the front desk and the room service ladies. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends, and will stay again in a heartbeat.

You got what you paid for.
Beds were terrible, AC noisy, facility needed to be painted-again, beach towels a little bigger than a wash towel
It was close to beach and food
Check in person very friendly
Beach employee had an attitude like wish I was working somewhere else

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during the week. Upon arrival the front desk person was very nice and checkin was done quickly. I had read reviews that said you can't checkin early so we planned on arriving after 2pm. Our room was a studio aparto on the ground floor. When we walked in, it was clean and hot! The air conditioner took a long time to cool down, as did the fridge. We liked the fact that it had a small kitchen to cook in, however the bed left ALOT to be desired. It was very hard and squeaked like an old mattress. We loved that we could walk to the beach and had free chairs and umbrellas for quests. There is a trolly stop right outside the hotel and it is a free service throughout the island. Overall a good old hotel, however until the beds are upgraded it will not be on our list of places to return to.

Stayed here for the second time.. room and hotel seem cleaner then last time which was a huge plus!!! It's right across the street from the beach; and the beach is real small. As other reviews: we also arrived early; they stated our room was not ready yet and we could not use their parking lot, pool or beach to come back around 2:30. Which we said ok and went and got lunch. The parking lot was not full - and plus we would be coming back and using one of those parking spots anyways... we noticed they let other people park there (the maids family) to use all facilites and when the maids are done cleaning they pack up and leave with them. To me they should let paying guest park and do whatever before their staff's family!!! however -at 12:00 we got a call and they said we could check in at 12:30 - during check in the front desk received a call from a hotel guest saying the maid went in to clean their room and left the door wide opened!!!!! Now that is scary; front desk just said "look to see if everything is still there; if anything is gone please let me know". Not a good thing to hear when checking in.. once checked in - the 3 days we were there was really nice. The front desk was helpful and where to go to eat and what to do... if you are want to shop at Anna Maria Island everything closes early; so do dinner around 4:00 and shop til 8:00p,. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again.. hopefully they won't be as strict with their facilities in the future. OHH BIG PLUS - they have lounge chairs and umbrellas for their guest on the beach at no charge. Hope you enjoy!

This marks my second negative experience with this hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction which is why I am providing feedback. We were with a small group staying at Silver Surf for a friend's wedding.

We arrived at the hotel a bit early, around 11:00 am, and while the hotel policy is not to check-in guests before noon, they went a head and checked us in, which was appreciated. However, despite the fact that we checked in early, we were told that we could not use the parking lot, hotel facilities, pool or "private" beach until noon. We were taken back by this statement for two reasons:

1. The hotel parking lot was half full and there were PLENTY of open parking spots available (especially near the pool) and many guests were leaving. So instead of accommodating a paid guest, they wanted us to leave the property to go somewhere else for an hour even though we could of easily parked at Silver Surf.

2. Why would you ever discourage a guest, particularly folks who have traveled a long way, not to enjoy the beach or pool facilities when there was no lack of space?!?! Unbelievable!

They also told my friends, who arrived at 11:45 am, who also had a reservation, that they could not park in the lot dispute the fact that they were 15 minutes early.

The hotel policies are too rigid and are nonsense given the situation. I could totally understand the hotel's position if were peak season and the parking lot was full. Instead, they inconvenienced their guests and made a bad impression. I have to say this was one of the only hotels that I've been to (and I have traveled extensively around the world) where the employees of this hotel actually turned guests away from the property unnecissarily.

The hotel itself is okay. For AMI, it's a value priced option. The property is dated but it's clean, in a great location and the price is right.

I will not be returning due to the ridiculous policies that make no sense and lack of customer service.

A last minute getaway to Florida's Gulf coast found my family grateful for the convenient location and helpful, friendly staff at the Silver Surf Gulf Beach Resort. The rooms are no frills but clean and kitchens/ kitchenettes useful. The pool is clean and well maintained and the complimentary chairs and umbrellas at the beach are appreciated. You do have to cross a busy street to get to the beach and signs encouraging traffic to stop for pedestrians would make for a more pleasant and safer experience.

Stayed here for 3 nights during this month. Great location and great price. The rooms are very clean and very well equiped. The beach is just across the street and the hotel provides towels and chairs for hotel guests. Friendly staff and very helpful. We arrived after 6 and they had our keys in a safety box for us to pick up. We definitely will be back!!
