“Our Favorite Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2010

My husband, our grown kids & our 3 yr. old granddaughter stayed @ Queen's gate & we all loved it ! Going back again this year. You can stay at the fanciest place ever, but if the staff is not friendly, it's not as good. You can stay @ a crummy place, but if the staff is friendly, it's still not good. Queen's Gate has the BESt of BOTh worlds...the place is great and the staff is WONDERFUL ! When we go to the beach, we want ~~~
clean, comfortable, welcoming, laid back, helpful staff, but not intruding,
We had all of that & more. We don't want a fancy condo with glasstop tables, that we're afraid we might track in a little sand from the beach. We rented the House for our 1st week & the 2BR cottage for our 2nd week. The House has a garage, 2 BR, 1 K & 1 Q + 2 double futons in the living room. One bathroom. Full size kitchen, w/ full size appliances & all the dishes, etc. you'll need. You just need to buy your consumables (papertowels, etc.) Decorated with old Florida style, very relaxing. Screened in lanai. Small deck on back. Opens out onto a hug back yard with nice green grass & a large pation, w/ tables & chairs, benches, & a gas grill . Pay Laundry Room. Heated outdoor pool, very nice w/ plenty of lounge chairs & table w/ chairs & umbrella. Staff was extremely nice, hospitable & helpful ! Felt like we'd known them for years. Beach is right accross the street, appr. 3 min. walk. Linenen are laundered by the staff, for free, as often as you'd like, just by putting soiled linens on your back deck. Loved everything about Queen's Gate - especially the cleanliness !

The resort is more like a motel room with a small frig. and microwave and a couple of dishes in your room. The room was clean and right across the street from the beach. But no frills, they don't clean your room or empty the trash, or change the sheets. You put your dirty towels in a basket outside of your room and clean ones appear. The bathroom is very small, the toilet is right next to the tub and there is barely enough room to close the door. Oh yeah, don't forget your blowdryer they don't have any in the room. But we still love Anna Maria Island!

The Queensgate is an older property, but well maintained. We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage, which is not really 2 bedrooms, but 1 room with a double bed and the other area has a queen in the living room area. There is also a kitchenette which is handy. The pool was nice and the hotel is a quick walk to the beach area. Beach area is very shelly in places, but the island is wonderful. Will defenitely be back!

A last minute find through a relative and what a place. As far as the rooms go, the King Size Bed is the one to go for. It has a cute table to sit at and a comfy chair.

This is the piece of information to note: Check the rates of the house!!! The house is just clean, comfy, functional and sooo relaxing. Two bedroom, central air, full kitchen, livingroom with two futons. Fresh linens are upon request. Just leave your soiled towels in the basket on the porch and they will be refreshed by the pleasant staff. The house has a porch, lanai, and just feels so homey and clean.

Nice private beach directly across the street. Heated Pool on property.

Now, about the staff: I thought Angie, the weekend manager was the nicest, most helpful person, until I met the week manager, Kathy. They are both great!

We will be back again, will refer friends and family. Hands down, the house is the place to stay!

Only drawback: no internet service available.

  • Liked — The house is very relaxing and clean. Pool, beach and staff.
  • Disliked — Limited to no internet access.

Queens Gate Resort was clean and comfortable. The beach was right across the street and a great restaurant in walking distance. Front desk staff very helpful. Good beds, roomy with a kitchen and back door with a hose for rinsing off sand. Nice pool and laundry room available. I would definitely go back!

  • Liked — Comfy feeling like home.
  • Disliked — Liked everything.

Being a long time resident of Florida, my normal close-by rental home was occupied and I researched the proximity of this motel to amenities of dining and beach. I should have researched the comments about this motel.
No Internet service! I do business everywhere I go and this is absurb! For the money I could buy an air card and stay at cheaper motel.
No table in motel room and only one chair. Very uncomfortable sitting on bed with visitors. Strange because they provide dishes and silverwhere but no place to put them.
TV had interference lines constantly through it.
Stayed two nights and no sheet change, trash removal or towel replacements the entire two days.
Noisy street that could not be drowned by the antique wall air conditioner in the wall. The room had white mini blinds that bathe the room in light making it hard to make the room dark for those that like to sleep in with a darkened room;

Do your self a favor and run away from this Motel !

This is not a resort, but a very well kept motel in a great part of anna maria island. you have to cross the street to get to the beach but that doesn't bother me. If I had more money, I would have stayed somewhere I could have a room with a view over the ocean, but if you're like me with a small budget this motel will serve you well- its a bed and bathroom only, the air conditioner units kick some major butt I had to turn mine down because I was freezing. I wouldn't recommend the place if you're bringing more than 4 people, unless you get one of their two bedroom apartments.

  • Liked — The location! I loved the beach it was near.
  • Disliked — It is completely inaccessible to people in wheelchairs. VERY tiny shower/toilet. anyone overweight by 75-100 lbs would feel claustrophobic.
  • Tips/Secrets — if you can't afford beachfront, and you're planning to spend most of your time out of the motel, this is a great place to go! definitely worth the money.
