“Changes... for the Worse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2011

I've been to Angelina's Ristorante many times - and every time, except for the last one, was very happy with the entire experience. Great ambience, delicious food, etc... We chose it over all others for very special occasions - birthdays, anniversaries, major holidays. However, the menu has been changed and some of the very BEST items were removed. How can this be? The carbonara was removed - it was the best I had ever tasted. The rack of lamb was changed - it used to have a delectable mint-flavored brown sauce - and I was very disappointed in the new flavors/presentation. The pork osso bucco which also was beyond excellent was replaced with a veal osso bucco. Didn't try the veal but no way should the pork have been removed. Dumb! The mint-based dessert (my favorite) was also removed. I've talked to others who feel the same way. Bad decisions! I will not be going back, which saddens me, since I previously LOVED the place.

“Soooo disappointing...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2011

We have dined at Angelina's at least 8 times over the past 18 months - our
"go to" restaurant for all special occasions- until our dining experience on December 24th- I would have said- simply the best!! Every meal we had ever had there we walked away very happy. However, on December 24, we arrived to discover that the menu had changed. So unexpectedly, ALL of our favorites, the food that made this restaurant so exceptional, (and we are two people that cook and entertain a great deal- we consider ourselves foodies!) were gone! The Carbonara was the best we had ever eaten outside of Italy. GONE! The lamb no longer had the scrumptious sauce. The token fish- flavorless. We ordered ravioli with lobster, there was one very small piece of lobster, when we brought this to the attention of the waiter- he chuckled. The chocolate covered mint dessert- GONE! The other guests that we were dining with have sworn not to go back. I'd give Angelina's a chance- The Osso Bucco is still on the menu. You just might not have the fantastic experience that you might have had before the menu change.

“Disappointing Menu Changes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2011

Went here for the third time after two wonderful dinners previously in the fall. Unfortunately they have changed their menu in a not-so-good way. Prices have gone up, and portions have gotten smaller. Their pasta is only available in appetizer sizes, and none of their entrees come with pasta. The food that we ordered was disappointing and no where near as good as our first two trips to Angelina's. Sadly we will not be returning. The ambiance is great but the food is average and expensive, not worth it at all.

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to hear you will not be returning, and management will review your concerns. Angelina's menu has always been presented in the traditional European style - none of the entrees include pasta.

“Italian Jewel in Bonita Springs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2011

Between Ft Myers and Marco, Angelina's stands out as the best ristorante Italiane. The decor was a little foreboding but warmed up quite a bit when dinners fill it up; the imposing wine tower was both practical as it was showy but the winelist has real substance as it was populated by a good cross section of Italian wines. Their corkage policy is very reasonable: you can bring if it's not on the list and pay $20. The pastas were outstanding and we loved the lobster risotto, a seafood linguine and mushroom tagliaterre. The secondo of baked snapper was moist when the waiter cracked open the rock salt cover. All in, we would go back for the next special occasion.

“Beautiful design.... And that's it!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2010

Went to angelina's after being skeptical of paying for expensive Italian food, but I heard it was a beautiful restaurant. A beautiful restaurant it is but it really stops there!!
We started our meal with a few appetizers of beef carpaccio, tomato mozzarella and cheese plate and a half order of shrimp pasta.
Our entrees were veal saltimbocca and osso bucco.
The veal carpaccio came out with a nice presentation but lacked any flavor because there was no salt on the beef. Same thing with the tomato mozzarella , just bland and tasteless. Cheeses were good but they had a fresh Italian cheese that had no business being on the plate with the other to heavy hitting cheeses. The shrimp pasta was good , except the Hawaiian prawn was overcooked.
The main courses is where it went down hill for me. the osso bucco was to me undercooked ,the risotto was a nice spin but you can't change undercooked .. The veal saltimbocca was overcooked and dry.
Then we get to the the completly overpriced gelato and to be honest the seasalt and caramel gelato was the best part of my meal , but certainly not worth the price for one ounce! Beautiful restaurant but if the food doesn't deliver , all you've got is a beautiful restaurant!
