Docs is just a beach shack, great view, greasy food. Best bet is the grouper sandwich. Without being on the beach there would be nothing to talk about. This is not a place to eat at if your not already at the beach!

We have been coming to Fort Myers Beach for 19 years and we never miss a year of at least one trip to Docs. We LOVE their Chicago-style (thin-crust) pizza and the grouper sandwich is great too. This place is a beach landmark and popular spot - so expect to wait. It is definately worth it! As it is directly on the beach, the atmosphere is casual so don't expect any cloth napkins at this joint! We look forward to Docs all year and usually hit it first and again last on our trips! Enjoy!
My family and I only went to Doc's Restaurant on Barefoot Beach in Bonita Springs, Florida after reading a couple of good reviews, so we decided to check it out. First of all, we stood there waiting for someone to notice us for about five minutes while some teenage boy was filling condoment cups with watered-down dressing. Finally, a grouchy blonde woman told us that they are not serving food in the lower level and that the restaurant is open upstairs only! OK, we thought the place was a total dive but sometimes the places that look run-down and depressing have great food, so we stayed and went upstairs. The waitress was grouchy as well, seated us at our table and came back about ten minutes later with foul-tasting tea and was stingy on refilling water. Then, after we ordered, the meal took about 30 mintues to get to us (we were hoping it was worth it). The tables were sticky, the seats were creaky, and there were food crumbs on the floor from former patrons--YUCK! I wanted to leave then, but my husband wanted to at least eat the food. When the food arrived, the greasy chicken fingers burnt my son's tongue and my other son couldn't eat his shrimp for about five minutes because it was too hot. My husband got a seafood combo basket, and you know the food is bad when you can't tell the scallops from the shrimp! My shrimp sauce was watered-down so bad I didn't use it. I couldn't finish the food because it was so depressing. It wasn't cheap either--CASH ONLY--so if you need to use credit cards, you have to use their "on site" atm machine--kind of creepy. After apopogizing to my party, I told them the place had good reviews--we all decided that the reviews were either from the family that owns it, or someone lost at sea who happened to wash up on shore there, and you know when you haven't eaten in hours, that anything will taste good. Do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and skip this place!!! I'd rather buy a $6.00 burger or shrimp basket at a fast food place--this wasn't even as good as fast food. This was the low-point of our vacation.
Good olds DOC'S. My family goes to Florida every year and can not stop from going to DOC'S at least twice a day. They have the best blacken gruper sandwich EVER. We always play the run 21 machine upstairs in the bar. DOC'S is MY favorite resturant EVER. The Decaturs are huge fans of docs.
