“overpriced, crap pizza”

Doc's Beach House Restaurant

Jan 2, 2008

This Chicago style thin crust cardboard pizza is not all that's it's cracked up to be. For one, it's way overpriced. $16.99 for a medium cheese pizza is crazy. Two, it's like cardboard. But, the scenery is great. Take your beer with you and then you can eat it on the beach tables. Oh, and you have to wait about an hour to get your pizza.
Service was so-so on a very busy night we were there.

The pizza is great, and it's the very best place to watch the sunset. The atmosphere is great, and the waitresses are friendly.

“An enjoyable meal”

We ate at Doc's twice- once for dinner and once for breakfast. at dinner, they valet park your car. i was told that this is because a lot of people were hitting other cars as they tried to pull out due to the angle of the parking spots.
i didn't feel like the service was overly friendly. we ate outside both times though so it wasn't a big deal.
had a seafood basket for dinner, and sausage gravy for breakfast. both were okay, but nothing to rave over. i'd eat here again though. i saw many people at our dinner visit who had just come with a couple of friends to watch the sunset with a pitcher of beer. it definetely seemed like a good place to do that. the sunset view was really nice.

We went to Doc's for lunch and it was on a Wednesday, so there was not any long waits for the food or the table. They actually valet your vehicle even though parking is 10 feet to the door wherever you park' but it looks as though they want to control the tourists who park at the restaurant to go to just the beach. Doc's is not a place to go to be impressed with ambiance, to expect the finest dining experience or have the world's greatest meal. It is a small diner that screams 1970's from the looks of it; the sandwiches were on average $8- I had the triple decker blt with Lays potato chips & bud light; my wife had a chicken soft taco with a michelob ultra light and my son had the fries and chicken (which was very hot-but it just told me it was cooked) and our tab with tip came to about $40 ( we tipped $7-our waitress was very friendly and took our 2 year old and my wife out in the courtyard to show them some dragonfly's). Doc's is not going to be a destination you will forever talk about-it is more of a fort myers beach/bonita springs experience. Food is average, price a little high, good service and a nice open air eating experience. We would go back again just because it supports the local dining.
