“Very good meal, a few kinks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2010

We've been visiting Roy's annually for about five years and have always loved it. That said, this year it felt as if a few elements had slipped and that Roy might need to make a visit to his Bonita Springs outpost to ensure it's keeping up his standards.
It saddens me to not give it a 5, which has always been my experience in the past.

Service - overall the service was quite good, with a lead waitress but a team approach to ensure tables' needs are met promptly. Our one issue was that it took nearly 20 minutes and 2 reminders before we got the 2nd glass of wine my husband ordered.

Food - we tried the canoe appetizer sampler and would not do so again. It includes 5 items and 2 of the 5 were disappointing to us. The shrimp was overcooked and a bit rubbery and they spicy dragon roll had little hint of spice. The spare ribs, which have been wonderful when ordered ala carte were a bit on the dry side. Our main courses and dessert were up to Roy's usual standards - we had the butterfish and the red snapper, both of which were perfectly prepared. The molten chocolate cakes was also delicious, as were the two wines we sampled.

We'll go back again for sure, but hope Roy's will take care to return to it's usual high standards of food and service.

“Not Like Roy's at O'Kolina, Oahu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2010

Since we were going to Naples, I thought we just had to try Roy's here since we liked it so much at the O'Kolina resort on Oahu...sadly, it was not as good.

I had 2 Mai Tai's and, while ok, were not as great as Oahu...the lobster potstickers were not good at all and the ahi app. was not very fresh. The app. canoe boat was not nearly as good and had several items not on the Oahu offerring, i.e. blue cheese ravioli and shrimp cocktail (not exactly Hawaiian, even Hawaiian-fusion!)

The ribs on the app. were ok...better as leftovers today. The dragon roll was awful, as were the egg rolls (couldn't even identify the protein in them!).

Service was good...almost too good...sort of frenetic at the bar...not laid-back aloha. Would we return? Probably not. Will wait for our next adventure in Hawaii.

“wonderful, delicious asian infusion flare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2009

we tried Roys when we were in scottsdale, arizona last year for the first time, so when we came down to bonita springs this winter and discovered they had a roys here, we had to try it. Same delicious meal at this location!!! their signature martini (1985) i think that's what it's called. We've tried many things on the menu and they're all equally amazing. must try lobster potstickers!!!
