We've been visiting Roy's annually for about five years and have always loved it. That said, this year it felt as if a few elements had slipped and that Roy might need to make a visit to his Bonita Springs outpost to ensure it's keeping up his standards.
It saddens me to not give it a 5, which has always been my experience in the past.
Service - overall the service was quite good, with a lead waitress but a team approach to ensure tables' needs are met promptly. Our one issue was that it took nearly 20 minutes and 2 reminders before we got the 2nd glass of wine my husband ordered.
Food - we tried the canoe appetizer sampler and would not do so again. It includes 5 items and 2 of the 5 were disappointing to us. The shrimp was overcooked and a bit rubbery and they spicy dragon roll had little hint of spice. The spare ribs, which have been wonderful when ordered ala carte were a bit on the dry side. Our main courses and dessert were up to Roy's usual standards - we had the butterfish and the red snapper, both of which were perfectly prepared. The molten chocolate cakes was also delicious, as were the two wines we sampled.
We'll go back again for sure, but hope Roy's will take care to return to it's usual high standards of food and service.
