It's my birthday and had choice on restaurant. I checked reviews on TA for a new(new to me) place to try.So happy that I did. Joshua was our server and did an excellent job. His professional and delicate demeanor was a welcome from the over flamboyant servers at national chains. Everything came out in a timely manner, Glasses were never empty. He didn't hesitate to honor coupon that I forgot to bring with me. (from website)
The food was delicious. Our apps consisted of Hawaiian Kalua Pig Quesadilla and Escargot Adobo. The pork was shredded and nicely seasoned within a light and crispy tortilla. The chipotle tomato jam made the dish though. Great flavor to accompany the pork with the right amount of heat to not overtake the palate. The escargot was different then any I have ever had. Sauteed in coconut milk and soy sauce. It was simple yet delightful. We had caesar salads for our second course. the dressing was tangy with a little pepper and no fishiness. They only use the hearts of romaine which a wonderful touch. The complaint is that the single strip of smoke bacon on top seemed lazy and should be crumbled since the guest is going to do it. Our entree's were Shrimp scampi and Hanger steak and frites. I didn't try the scampi as I'm allergic to shellfish but was told it was great. Suace not too heavy and tasty. the shrimp they use are one size smaller then most people are used to but there were plenty of them to make the difference. The steak was perfectly done and juicy. The pomme frites while crisp and savory had a little too much salt. To finish off the night we shared a bread pudding ala mode. The pudding was moist but needed a little more cinnamon. The chocolate drizzle was lackluster and chalky.. Much like Hershey syrup. If they switched to caramel would make the dessert perfect.
The restaurant itself is small and unobtrusive. A dozen linen covered tables and a handful of booths make it intimate. The only drawback is that the black ceiling panels need to be replaced or repainted. All in all a great dinner out that I will remember and recommend.
