“Restaurant dining via Captiva Cruises”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

We took a cruise here from Captiva Island and we had a choice of lunch on Useppa or on Cabbage Key. We chose lunch on Useppa because of the Inn and we were not disappointed. This was off season so there were not too many people in our group. The service was wonderful. I had the best margarita I have had in a long time. The soup of the day was delicious and my fish tacos were outstanding made with fresh grouper. Don't miss their Key Lime Pie for dessert - it is well worth it. While on the island do visit the museum too. All in all a great experience.

Room Tip: Can only eat here if you take the Captiva Cruise. This is a private island and is guests only otherw...

We arrived at the beautiful secluded private island of Useppa via Boca Boat Cruises departing from Boca Grande, Florida to explore this idyllic destination and enjoy lunch at The Collier Inn...the entire day trip was much more than we had hoped for....we cruised with Captain Ralph on the 31’ Katara - and right from the start knew we had the best cruise - (see my review on Boca Boat Cruises) enjoying Captain Ralph's experience and entertaining personality. The Collier Inn is a beautiful and private historical Inn - we decided to have lunch on their expansive deck overlooking the water surrounded by banyan trees and assorted exotic flora... we had a very efficient and friendly server - Francine - service was efficient, friendly and very relaxed - nobody rushes....we started lunch with a tall and frosty Bloody Mary. Known for their conch chowder...we enjoyed a cup each plus decided to share a few appetizers so we could sample a selection from their excellent menu. We appreciated every morsel before leaving the Inn to explore the tranquility of beautiful Useppa Island...no cars on this tiny island...you walk, ride a bike or take a golf cart if you require -but it is small and easy to get around. We are planning to "make an arrangement" to return (you must be a member or a guest of a member) for a week-end - soon. We cannot wait to tell our friends about the wonderful adventure we had here...Useppa Island and The Collier Inn.....are for sure - very special places...

We came by boat to stay the night but I would love to come back to stay at the inn. The service was impeccable, food scrumptious and the wine absolutely the best selection/value in FL. The coconut shrimp I had was terrific, but the Khaluha crème brulee was the bomb!!! We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality at the inn and the view of the water was spectacular. We finished our evening enjoying the large deck with a HUGE banyan tree in the middle of it. The next morning we took a tour of the island and realized there was a croquet court and a life-size chess set next to the inn we could have used after dinner! Guess I'll have to come back.

Room Tip: We stayed on our boat and the marina services was top shelf.

We had a lovely trip to useppa island via captiva cruises... The point of these lovely cruises is to have lunch and enjoy the island. However, lunch was a disappointment. Our server was terribly slow and innattentive. He didn't offer us specials, dessert, etc. Our glasses were often empty; and the food took waaaaay too long. It did seem as if others were getting good service, just not us. The food was decent, not great. Seemed overpriced for what we got. Next time we'll take a picnic.

We stayed at the Collier Inn as guests of a member. I believe you must be a member or a guest to secure one of the 7 rooms at the Inn. No children are allowed to stay at the Inn. It is a beautiful historic inn filled with antiques and interesting old photos. Our large room had a huge balcony with beautiful views of the water and sunrise.

The Inn offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with superb food and friendly, helpful staff. Our stay included a continental breakfast. Inn amenities include use of the pool, tennis courts, wonderful fitness room, and all the island has to offer. There is even a well groomed croquet area.

There is little to do on the island except relax, and enjoy island time. The island has no cars, only golf carts, bikes, but walking is the best way to soak in all the tropical beauty. Every resident and staff member we met was superbly friendly and welcoming. We look forward to visiting again.
