Lets start with this. Spring Hill Suites by Marriot. A blatant crip from Summer Field Suites by Hyatt or am I getting cynical. Similar price but there the similarities end - it's simply not in the same league. Summerfield and Embassy Suites are streets ahead.
For a start we have had ordinary hotel rooms with more facilities - does a small microwave and fridge count as 'suite' nowadays? I think not.
The good? Lovely desk staff, internet room, gym, laundry and pool.
The bad? Well just not our idea of what suites should be like, certainly at that end of the market plus what can only be described as a rotten breakfast - badly cooked, poor quality, hopeless system to keep supplies coming by an elderly couple who looked out of their depth. eg. put out 3 miserly bananas which went within a minute then 10 minutes later put out another three. Coffee ran to dregs 0945. Topped up 1000. Egg and sausage patties ran out 0940. Replaced 1000. etc, etc. Maybe a bad day but Sunday should have been easier and more relaxed. It's okay saying it is complimentary but it isn't of course - it is built into the price and should be properly done, period.

We had stayed at another hotel in the area and had to move quickly because it was atrocious. There was little availability so we took a chance on the Springhill Suites.

The hotel was under renovation and the hallways were not quite finished. There were some solvent smells in the hallway but not in our room. Our renovated room was lovely and very clean. The linens seemed fresh and the bed was comfortable.

The only drawback was that the layout was somewhat odd -- when we pulled out the sofabed for our son to sleep on, it bisected the room. Luckily the bathroom was on the side with the king sized bed.

For the money, I don't think you can do much better in the area.

Everything was lovely save for a strong smell of mold/mildew the second you entered the room. I stayed on the fifth floor and a business companion stayed on the same floor and noticed it as well. I think we got accustomed to it after awhile, which was a little scary, but still. No visible mold anywhere, and everything seemed very clean.

Other than that, VERY comfy beds with nice, new bedding. A light was out over the vanity mirror and I called down to have it fixed and someone was up within 5 minutes.

Lobby itself very nice, open, and a good (free!) breakfast in the morning.

It would have been a perfect stay if not for the smell, but based on that I don't think I would stay again.

We stayed at Springhill Suites Boca Raton the last 4 days in May for a short vacation. I had read all the reviews and they were quite accurate. The hotel is VERY clean to my surprise there was a gentleman cleaning the computer keyboards with q-tips and rubbing alcohol one morning. Our room was nice, fridge, microwave and sink was handy for leftovers from Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano's Little Italy, Coldstone and TooJay's all within a few minutes from the hotel. The location was great for getting around, on 95. There is a nice upscale mall on and restaurants on Glades and the ocean is about a 5 min drive 30 min to Lauderdale beach. The staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating, ask and you shall receive. There was always treats at the desk - homemade Otis Spunkmeyer cookies one evening on our return - YUM! It was not really busy over the weekend, the weekdays were busier but still not crazy. One thing I did not see was children - this hotel is mainly business people, nice and quiet! The pool area is nice keeping in mind you are on the expressway so the road noise is always there, but not aggravating. The train was in all the reviews - I could see it being a problem as it goes within feet of the second building and the pool. We barely were bothered in the main building on the third floor even though we overlooked the tracks. Breakfast was okay, had better but hey it is free and not many hotels offer continentals. Free Internet AND printing, free faxing 5 pages or less and free parking. Nice stay !!
