“Old hotel, needs rennovation”

Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel

Baltimore, MD

I stayed here for two nights for business. It's a nice area (businesses in the area, not attractions.) The hotel is old and it shows. The room was nice and it was clean, but could use renovation.

The restaurant (Umbira) had a very limited menu, and called itself
"Mediterranean" but it was not. Food was ok, but nothing simple on the menu. It seems as if they went out of their way to be trendy here.

There are too many other hotels that are either newer or have been renovated in the area for me to stay here again for the price.

“Not bad for a So FL mid-priced hotel”

Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel

Apr 26, 2007

I picked this hotel for location more than anything else, but was pleasantly surprised, given some of the reviews.

First: Location. The hotel is close the huge retirement complex, St Andrews, since I was down to visit family there. It is also close to Town Center Mall, I-95, Mizner, etc. No time for the beach on this trip.

The rooms and lobby where a bit dated, but not much different than most South Florida Hotels. The desk staff was polite. The parking lot was crowded upon arrival, but there was also a prom going on at the hotel (more on that later).

The rooms were fine and met my basic requirements. The bed was clean and comfortable with lots of pillows. The AC had a fan setting, which I like to run all night as "white noise" . The bathroom was small but the shower was good. The room was quiet.

As mentioned before, there was a prom going on Friday night and I was dreading staying there. I almost turned around and walked out in anticipation of late night prom parties in rooms. Actually, we went to late night dinner and bar hopping in WPB, came back after midnight and the hotel was quiet as a church. No signs of the kids anywhere. Hats off to the management!

Very tropical pool area and bar. I would return to this hotel.

“Renaissance more than acceptable”

Just returned from 5 days at the Renaissance Boca and unlike other reviews we found this property to be more than above avg. Is it a Ritz or Four Seasons, no, but it is a very acceptable hotel and if you get this hotel at a low Priceline rate then you are really ahead of the game. Service was fine and due to problems w/ cable tv hotel provided 2 free drinks coupon without a request from us. Don't have time to detail our visit, but don't let other reviewers scare you away from booking this well located, clean, professional, somewhat luxury hotel.

I stayed in May to attend a nearby event. The hotel seems a bit old and worn. The pool scene is a bit old and worn too. There is nothing special about the rooms or the bed. The staff is not very friendly or helpful. I do recommend nearby Paladino's Gourmet Market for plenty of good things to eat. There are also other food restaurants nearby within walking distance. The Boca Raton town center is nearby, a bit of a walk. Mizner's square in downtown Boca Raton has some good places to eat.
During this trip to South Florida, I stayed at Marriott Coral Springs and South Beach Marriott. I'd say the South Beach Marriott is the most interesting place to stay in South Florida and the service is a lot better. I enjoyed a drive up West Palm Beach & Palm Beach Gardens. I have to say South Florida has some of the worst drivers around, driving very fast and dangerously. I probably would not stay at this hotel again.

Very, very nice place and relatively reasonably priced, especially for the neighborhood (i.e., Boca Raton). Very convenient to multiple major businesses.

Room was very comfortable and now that Marriott owns it, it is entirely smoke-free.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. I thought it was a great stay, if only for one night.
